Title: Testosterone only?
Post by: Floodlights on June 20, 2023, 12:31:55 PM
Has anyone in peri decided to come off HRT but continue with testosterone? I’ve been on HRT for a couple of years but I’ve decided to come off. I used testosterone and my levels show that I need it. And it’s helped no end with libido. Has anyone come off oestrogen and progesterone but stayed on testosterone?

Morning.  Who is in charge of prescribing your HRT regime?

For the first 18months, private. For the last six months I’ve transferred to GP.

Tnx.  MayB ring the Surgery to ask the question?  In the mean time, keeping a mood/food/symptom diary may be of use to chat to the Nurse Practitioner/GP about.

Hi. On the BMS site I think I read that prescribing testosterone to women not on HRT can lead to side effects such as voice changes and extra body hair growth.
I think it was under Replacement Testosterone in Menopause.

Yes, I stayed on testosterone when I came off HRT for many months. However I didn't do this with official doctor approval, since they thought I was still on HRT.  ;D
