Title: Starting HRT
Post by: Lizbef1972 on June 09, 2023, 09:51:13 PM
Hi, I’m just at the stage where I am deciding on my options for hrt.
I’ve been given 3 options.
1. Have my marina coil replaced and have an oestrogen patch
2. Have a combined patch
3. Have an oestrogen patch and progesterone tablets

Just wondered if anyone else was on the marina coil and what option would be best?
Thanks in advance

I would stick to the mirena as you know you get on with it, you may find you don't get on as well with a different one.

Thank you. It would just be replaced with the marina I believe, but I will ask the question at the doctors!

Morning and welcome,

I started hrt last September. I have always been on patches, gradually increased strength as I needed to. Whilst I initially took oral progesterone I did not get on with it at all. Also in my case I hated the bleeding. So I had the mirena coil fitted and the more constant release of progesterone seems to suit me better. Bonus is no actual periods.

It is a good idea to think about your options but I have to say this works well for me and I would hate to change my regime.

Wish you well
