My poor husband is getting the full force of the Menopause rage too!!

Hello and welcome to the forum. I have not used the HRT you are on but I have found when changing HRT you can feel as though you have started all over again as the body has to adjust to a new type. Are you taking progesterone along with the Oestrogel? If you do not have a womb then you do not need progesterone.

This is a helpful link to show or print off to your husband. It will help him to understand some of what you are going through.

thanks for the response - YES it does feel like starting again. Glad it's not just me. I'll def share that with my husband - I can hardly understand how I'm feeling so I know it's hard for him.

I will be taking progesterone on specific days as I do have a womb so I'll just follow the pattern and hang in there.

I may be wrong (not familiar with femosten) but I thought 2/10 was equivalent to 4 pumps? I think there's a comparison chart on the BMS website. If the dose is less that may explain why you feel worse.

oh WOW - I asked the GP and he just gave me a flat 'I don't know' when I asked the comparison. I'll have a look on the site thank so much!

Thank you so much for telling me about this - just got off the phone with a MUCH more helplful GP at the practice and she went to the trouble of calling the hospital and the pharmacist and came back with what you have said - that I should be on 3-4 pumps.

I'm honestly so grateful I could cry....but I'll get going on that gel and I will be less likely to do that!

THANK YOU!!

Page 2 shows you the equivalent doses.

A 2mg tablet is roughly equivalent to 2 pumps of Oestrogel.  I’d you use 4 pumps you will be doubling the dose.

Hi JMO74, I am the same as you.  Was on Femoston 2/10 and have just been switched over to Oestrogel 2 pumps  + Utrogestan.  This is my first day of the switch over.  When I got the prescription from the GP to change I found different information.  Some said that Femoston 2/10 was equal to a medium dose and therefore 2 pumps was the equivalent.  But something else I read also said that this was equivalent to 4 pumps.  Confusing.  I wish this was straight forward  :-\

I’ve started with the 2 pumps, but am mentally scanning every sensation, though to see if this means symptoms are returning, does it mean I am not absorbing, should I have started on a higher does.  I am really apprehensive about the next few days, though have committed to myself to try the 2 pumps for a couple of weeks before deciding if I need to up to 3.   Recognise my body has to get used to a difference delivery method.

Just wanted to say you are not alone, and I hope you you find the change works for you  :)

Thanks for the support - on reading the dosages - I won't do that myself and probably wouldn't recommend any of us do unless medically trained. My GP said it was equivalent to 3-4 pumps of what I'm on so I'm going to up it and see how I go.

My symptoms happened quite quickly but were quite severe so I'm definitely following my GP advice - now I've found one willing to talk to me!

Hi JM074. Did you see my post above with the link to the BMS info?

Femoston 2/10 is equivalent to 2 pumps of Oestrogel.

Hi Dotty - I didn't read it that way and when I talked to the GP she had to check with the pharmacist and they didn't either so it's confusing all around!

Femoston is a 2mg tablet which, on the table, is equivalent to 2 pumps of Oestrogel.
