Title: HRT PATCH DOSE after age 55
Post by: Carrie on May 14, 2023, 09:43:09 AM
Hi ladies I am wondering for those over 54/55 and on oestrogen patches what is the dose you are on??
I’m trying to figure out does the dosage go up or down as you age.
I’ve recently gone from 50to 25 due to really painful breasts.
Thank you in anticipation

Well I’m 52 and on 75. However my MS thinks by 60, I should be on 25. Her theory is that as we age, we need less oestrogen?

I guess it’s all about symptoms?

My mum who is 71, has been on 1mg Premarin for decades. No increase, no decrease.

I am 59, last period at 52.I m not on patches but Oestrogel. I am confused on dosage as I ticked away nicely on 3 pumps for a few years but have had to up to 4 pumps recently due to VA flare that wouldn't calm down. I use systemic HRT for VA even though using daily vagifem.

The theory is that we need less but I'm not convinced it's true. Aged 62 and every time I try to reduce my symptoms return (late meno though).

Also same as Tinkerbell. I’m on systemic HRT largely to keep VA at bay. It’s annoying as i need at least 75/100 patch else it’s back with a vengeance. But I don’t get much relief from many other  symptoms, such as insomnia.

Oh and I need at least 100, for any kind of feeling from the waist down! This isn’t great as my womb hates all that oestrogen  :-\

All very tiring.
