Title: Three periods this month!

I started HRT in Sept. I am peri menopausal age 47. I was on the contraceptive pill right up until last year & that made my periods regular & light for years. We realised I was peri menopausal because of other symptoms like severe mood swings, anxiety, paranoia etc.

I came off the combined pill & went onto HRT. I currently take Evorel 50 patch & Utrogestan 200mg for 2 weeks.

I knew I would get a withdrawal bleed on the utrogestan free days but I have been getting bleeding at other times. I realised that is likely to be my normal period, which were never regular and painful until I went on the contraceptive pill. Now I've got those periods back as well as a withdrawal bleed.

I had a private GP appointment this week & she suggested starting utrogestan again 15 days after my period (which will be tomorrow), to try & bring the period in sync with the withdrawal bleed week.

However, today I have a bleed for the THIRD time this month ;(.

I had a period on the 7th-11th, withdrawal bleed 14th/15th and a 3rd bleed this weekend.

The GP had mentioned cerazette contraception to stop the bleeding but apparently side effects are acne, mood swings and depression, all of which I had before HRT, so I'm not keen.

Is there anything else I can do ? HRT has stopped all my other unpleasant symptoms so I don't want stop HRT.

Hi Tulip123

Sorry to hear you're going through lots of bleeding.  I’m the same at the moment, I’m peri and my GP wasn’t bothered about the bleeding (I am) but did suggest if I wasn’t happy with the bleeding then there’s the Mirena coil to think about having.  I’m on Sandrena 1.5mg and 200mg Utrogestan and have been on this for nearly 2 years now.  Hope you get more advice from others.  x

Hi ya, this is my 1st reply. I feel 4 ya I have been since 38, but only on patches same as yours, for about 2yrs. I'm doing weird brown bleeds and had a few every other week, been weird, had weird feelings too and mental breakdown. So may I ask what paranoia and anxiety did u experience please?  Hope bleed gets better soon. My evorel defo put a rhythm back. But now I'm all over shot again.
