Title: HRT advice
Post by: Wortley on April 14, 2023, 12:07:53 PM
Hi , I’ve been on HRT sequential patches  for 10 months . I’m 51 and so far my symptoms of perimenopause have much improved . I have a regular bleed every month usually around 3- 4 wks of cycle when on Conti patch . Just checking this is ok as I thought it was after you finished Conti and back on to oestrogen only patch ?

When I asked my GP if my patch could be I increased from 50 to 75, due to returning joint muscle pain ,wakening  anxiety and low motivation , I was told that I would be changing to a continuous regime at 12 months on HRT and that they don’t make a higher combination patch that I’m on just now . I’m thinking of cutting in half one of my Evoril 50s patch temporarily .
Firstly I don’t understand why I need to wait till 12 months before they increase my oestrogen when they change my regime to continuous HRT   I need an Increase in oestrogen now .
Secondly , what is current best practice on when to change to continuous HRT . Having been on HRT for a year , I wouldn’t know if my periods have stopped and a bit anxious I’m in for a rocky road.
Need expert advice please , as HRT has saved me from leaving a highly stressful 30 yr career so far  and I would probably stop HRT if it was giving me worse symptoms .
