Wondered if any ladies could give me info please.
Starting to look at using a VM for comfort as starting to get very dry.
I know (think?) Yes (vm?) and Sylk are available on prescription. Are there any others?
I thought I might try one OTC and if I like it, ask the GP when I next see them (seems hardly worth a whole appointment) if they could prescribe some of the same sort. I have a pre payment certificate so it would be worth getting it prescribed longer term instead of buying OTC for me.
Any help much appreciated

Sorry about multi posts! Glitchy site right now I know

YES is on prescription and you can order online. Think Boots will order for you too. If you go to the menu and HRT preps, Vaginal treatments, there's a list of products on prescription.

I never realised these things were available on prescription but the less I have to do with doctors the better!
I buy Sylk through Amazon, a pack of 3 costs £21.99.
As far as I can remember it was Replens that was mainly prescribed by most doctors and I wanted something more natural.

Thank you Deirdre, I’ll have a look

Ayesha do you tend to use the Sylk every day? I quite like the idea of once every few days with yes and replens. But I guess I won’t know till I try!

I use Yes VM or Sylk everyday. I apply some after my morning shower and mix a little with Ovestin to apply to the vulva. I also buy mine from Amazon.
I really do not think anybody should use Replens. It has been known to cause skin irritation.

I use Sylk morning and evening every day!

I definately would not recommend replens, it's full of chemicals.

I definately would not recommend replens, it's full of chemicals.
I have to say I was shocked at the ingredients in Replens, one of the chemicals used is in Soda Crystals. I use that for cleaning my washing machine and also good for cleaning drains.
I think I am worth more than that so went for the more natural products like Yes or Sylk.
I haven't looked into any other moisturisers so not sure what else is good to use!

My GP told me that the NHS doesn't recommend Replens any more. I panic bought some from Superdrug when my VA first kicked off but I then read the ingredients and the internet and decided I didn't want it. I hadn't opened it and Superdrug were absolutely fine about giving me a refund.
I have had Sylk on prescription, and I am told you can get some emollients on prescription too but my surgery woudn't let me have anything YES. It may depend which area you're in.

Replens should be avoided. One shouldn't have to have moisturisers on prescription they can be bought directly from the company or OTC.
-
Thanks everyone. I’ll avoid replens.
Looks like Sylk a good bet on prescription. I’m keen to get it on prescription as I have already bought a pre payment cert for this year! So it will be free in effect!

Great!
