Title: Newbie - Could it be perimenopause?
Post by: SomersetLass1978 on February 13, 2023, 09:57:24 PM
Hi all,

I'm new here and looking for some advice. I'm 44 and have been going through some hard times on and off the past 2.5 years. I've suffered badly with anxiety, mood swings, dry skin, brain fog and hormonal acne and put it down to stress from work and after affects of lockdown/furlough etc... I'm wondering now though if all of this is due to the menopause, or the early stages? I've been suffering recently with sweats at night, and chills at odd times in the day when I normally don't feel the cold. My cycle isn't also as regular as it was, I used to be able to run my watch by it. Any thoughts? Where I live it usually takes months or longer to get to see a GP if it's not urgent.

Thank you

Yes, it sounds like peri to me. Have a look at the 'advice for husbands' pinned post that tells you other meno symptoms.

Hello SomersetLass. Welcome to the forum. I agree, your symptoms all sound like peri.

Yep, from where I'm sitting it's peri-menopause.  The years when the body begins to change so we notice symptoms.  Some find that keeping a mood/food/syptom diary of use.   :welcomemm:

As ostrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out: skin, deep in the ears, nostrils, eyes, vagina, between the toes, scalp.  Muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

Thank you everyone, it's good to know it's not just me or in my head.
