Hello ladies,
I’ve only been on my HRT for about 12 weeks but I think I’m starting to feel a positive improvement. Mood not so low, flushes less and brain fog better. However the 2 symptoms that haven’t improved are VA and lack of sleep.
I went back to gp this week and he prescribed vagirux for the VA. Has anyone used this? I’m not so keen on the reusable applicator and wonder if anyone just inserts using your finger? Also gp said it might make me bleed, anyone experienced that?
On the lack of sleep, someone recommended a weighted blanket! Not sure if I’d be too hot but has anyone tried this with success? Px

Hello Polly. It is wonderful to hear your meno symptoms have improved. With VA you need localised oestrogen so it is good you have been given vagirux. Vagirux is a common VA treatment and will help. I would use it daily. You can insert it with your finger if it is more comfortable for you. There are lots of tips for VA on here.
You can get a lighter weighted blanket. I think they say it should weigh 10% of your body weight but you could get a lighter one and see how you find it. I have a friend who cannot sleep without one. :)

Hi Polly
I use vagifem so get individual applicators but occasionally have had the generic Estradiol with just the one applicator and so inserted with the finger.

Ovestin has washable applicators ;-). Insert as far as is comfy and increase the depth once the vagina is less sensitive.
Let us know how you get on. Any treatment is better than none, we are lucky that we have, in the main, access to medications.

There's no reason why local oestrogen should make you bleed, unless the vulval and vaginal tissues are very thin and easily damaged, so no idea why your GP should say that. You can, of course, use a finger to insert the tablet. You can also coat the applicator with some vaginal moisturiser to aid insertion.
