Hello,
Edit by Emma: Topics merged.
I would like some advice and thoughts you all.
I've been on oestrogel 4 pump since beginning of december and utrogestan vaginally. My sleep is improving slowly albeit at a snails pace.
However what I cannot fathom out is the anxiety. It seems to come and go and at will and has no pattern to it. It is horrific and totally debilitating.
Is it the oestrogel causing the anxiety, is it the fact that 4 pumps is too much, is it the utrogestan or what??
Any advice would be grateful.
Thank you xx

Ask your GP for anti-anxiety medication to give yourself a break. I used 'valium' as necessary for years, now I have an emergency tablet for when anxiety floors me.
-
Yes I thought of those, but I'm on amitrypline and don't think I could take anti anxiety with them xx
-
I'm not on any HRT and anxiety can hit ANYTIME,it is truly awful, even when you are on HRT your hormones still fluctuate,so,sadly it's all down to meno, I have to say though, since I've started taking CBD gummies daily,my anxiety hasn't reared its ugly head in a while 🤞🤞
-
I've heard about CBD gummies, I wonder if I can take those with amitrypline.
How many do you take jaypo xx

I am so sorry you are feeling so anxious, Disco. I have tried to find out if anxiety medication can be taken with amitriptyline and I cannot find anything to suggest they should not be taken together. I think it depends which one as you cannot take xanax but it seems you may be able to take a different type.
I would have a chat to your GP to see if they can recommend one for you.

hi flossieteacake

i just hate this anxiety and constant feeling of dread. seems to come out of the blue too.
i think its probably fluctuating hormones maybe
i hope you're keeping ok xxx

Ring a local Pharmacist and ask the question? Then let us know ;-)

You are welcome. It is great the magnesium is helping. I can understand you being wary about trying anxiety medication but I feel you have nothing to loose and if you do not like it you can just stop. Anxiety is horrible and it does seem to come out of the blue.

Hi discogirl.
My anxiety symptoms reappeared when I had covid last year along with a very stressful time with my mum who has Alzheimers. I also think my own hormones had a shift so it felt like a treble whammy. I was on 4 pumps of Oestrogel but have got it down to 3 over the past month or so and have definitely seen an improvement without other symptoms appearing. My thinking having read various comments on this forum is that maybe I was having too much oestrogen. I still get the odd wobbly day but so far nothing like the continual jitters I was having.

hi DottyD68
im so sorry about your mum
Alzeimers is devastatingly hard on the carers. my heart goes out to you.
and thats what i was thinking that it could be too much gel.
i want to keep improving my sleep which the gel is slowly doing but try and get a balance.
can i ask DottyD68 are you post meno xxx

Thank Discogirl. Yes it's been a tough few years dealing with her on top of everything else. She went into a carehome last year, but the run up to Xmas was dreadful as she was demanding to go home. Made even more awkward as we sold her home last year, which she doesn't know. All very difficult.
Anyway I'm on a mission to focus on my own well-being this year as it's all taken its toll.
I was still having periods when I started HRT 18 months ago but just been moved over to a conti regime on the assumption that I "should" be approaching menopause. I will be 55 this year. I definitely feel there has been a shift in my hormones these past few months and I hope so. It has been a long hard 7-8 years of peri-menopausal symptoms X.

If you google 'Amitriptline interactions' you should get the Nice bnf list come up and then you can check for Cbd which contains (is?) Cannabidiol.
-
hi minusminnie
i did and it seems there are some interactions with it.
i take magnesium bisglycinate which helps a little xxx
-
On what grounds Dotty "should" be approaching menopause has been used to alter your regime :-\. Has it made any noticeable difference: peri-menopause can go on for years and 1 isn't in menopause until 12 months after the last bleed.

Oh,my post has gone,I did mention to check first, sorry xx
-
hi jaypo

Let us know how you get on? Which thread would you like to continue with, mayB ask Emma to merge so that responses don't become lost?

discogirl I am suffering exactly the same with anxiety. Just when I think it is calming down it comes back with a vengeance. Its such a horrible thing to try and cope with and I really feel for you. It seems as soon as I think the dose is right bang it all goes bad again - beyond frustrating. I do hope you feel better soon x
-
Which cbd gummies do you take jaypo? ( I’m sure I’ve asked you this before !) x
Disco, sorry you are struggling with anxiety. I thought you had nailed it with the 4 gel pumps. Maybe drop down half a pump
and see how you feel? Cbd is another option, or smoke weed( as I’m planning too !) only joking ! 😀
Honestly anxiety is brutal at times. Hope you feel better soon x
-
Oh,ok discogirl,thought I was going crazier than I actually am ;D
I buy mine from herbal health, they are really good and it's buy one get one free just now, they're about 300 mcg but I only take one daily
