Title: Stomach cramping following 10 days on utrogestan
Post by: Cloud on December 19, 2022, 12:09:47 PM
Hello... Just wondering if this is a known side effect and whether I should ride it out? I've been prescribed one pump estrogel & 10 days utrogestan orally. All was going well in my first cycle until bloating started at day 6 of utrogestan. I stopped taking after 10 days as directed but have had moderate/ severe stomach cramping on & off since I stopped (5 days ago). A lot like gastro cramping, feeling really awful. Hoping it's a virus because I'm not sure I can do this every month. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any advice? Thank you x

I have had stomach aches, gripey pain which has got worse since taking HRT (Evorel Sequi 50mg, Evorel Conti). Not all the time but when it's happening, really uncomfortable. I am trialling coming off HRT for 4-6 weeks to see if stomach symptoms clear. Not sure if this is helpful but this has been my experience. x

It it definitely gut related or could be cramping before a bleed? If it's gut I would try it vaginally next time as this usually avoids digestive issues.

Thank you. Definitely gut. It's so uncomfortable and doesn't seem to be stopping even though no utrogestan for 6 days now 😞

When I was first on the same combination of get and Utrogestan , I had the worst cramps I’ve ever experienced in my life during my first bleed. I was up in the middle of the night on all fours on the bed. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I continued to get cramps each month but nothing as bad as the first one. I bought some Feminax and it settled down after a few months. I would say persevere if you are finding it’s helping with your symptoms, at least for a few more months.

I don’t know whether it was the utrogestan or oestrogen but when I first started HRT I had horrendous cramps on and off for 5 months. Then it settled. They returned after a covid jab and then a HRT increase but again settled after 5 months. I am currently increasing again but more slowly to try and not get the pain as sometimes it made me I’ll and at times I couldn’t stand with it
