Title: Utrogestan 100mg

Hi all,
I’m not getting on too well with utrogestan and it makes me feel suicidal.
I’m supposed to take 200mg on days 15-26 alongside oestrogel.
Can I just ask, as a peri 47 year old, if I change to utro 100mg for 25 days will the side affects of the utrogestan be better? Also, will I gain weight with that steady intake of progesterone?

Sorry to hear you’re not getting on with the Utrogestan.
I’ve just asked a similar question to yours here on another post, for the opposite reason. I’m also 47 and peri. I seem to feel good on Utrogestan (2 weeks x2 capsules daily) and then I feel awful not long after I come off it for the two week break, and was wondering if we can do continual Utrogestan (1 capsule daily) whilst still in peri??

Just to let you know that I am in peri and on the Cerazette POP and was advised by Dr Currie (founder of this forum) and a gyne at a UK meno clinic to take Utrogestan 100mg every day.

Here is what Dr Currie said: "The point of taking progestogen every day along with estrogen, is that
the womb lining will be stable and thin due to the Cerazette, so there
is no need to recreate a monthly cycle, but taking estrogen and
progestogen every day will maintain that stability. If you were
perimenopausal and not taking Ceraztte, then taking both estrogen and
progestogen every day as HRT could lead to irregular bleeding. The use
of Cerazette is key here, not whether you are perimenopausal or
postmenopausal."

I hope this helps you. How are you doing now? I just started Utrogestan last night and I really don't want to take another tablet orally! Best night's sleep in a long time but nausea, feeling drunk, dizzy and spaced out today...

The other option is to take it vaginally for 12 days per 28; I had success with this way till I switched to a trial of continuous after nearly a year.


 I can now tolerate it much better orally too!

You must take the same dose as orally.

Higher doses such as 100 patches need 3 tablets.
