Title: Cutting evorel sequi patches
Post by: Miss piggy on November 04, 2022, 07:58:10 PM
I would like to do a slow taper. Has anyone cut like 1/8 off at a time?
I know people talk about quarter and half but I would be interested if anyone has done it much less at a time.
Thank you

Sorry Miss Piggy. I have never used these so I do not know. I just know with Oestrogen patches they need to be cut diagonally. I know that is no help to you.

I am wondering if I could cut it into 1/8 using diagonal cuts like a cake. Instead of strips across but I do not know. I am scared of the impact on the diazepam taper.
Thank you again

Are you tapering off diazepam and the patches at the same time? If so I wonder if you could choose one to taper off first. I know tapering off any medication can give side effects and if you had side effects from both at the same time it may be harder.

I can choose but they are saying not to do it till my mood has lifted. I am now wondering if it is too much or too little HRT causing this anxiety and low mood

That is really difficult. I can see their point about waiting until your mood has lifted. Is there a reason you think the HRT may be causing the low mood and anxiety?

I wondered if it was the ingredients in the patch which was making me feel so bad.

Then I get worried what if I need more HRT to feel good?

So now i am not sure whether to try and stop the HRT or increase. Problem is the diazapam is also a key player here.

Diazapam is usually something temporary or taken on a bad day isnt it? I wonder if it may be worth trying to taper that before you try anything else.

I have a lot to taper due to errors made (not by me)

I remember when you first joined and listed the medications you are on. Did you notice your mood became lower when you started evorel conti? It would be difficult to know if it is that or that combined with the other medications you are on. If it were me I would focus on tapering off diazepam and try not to think of anything else right now. That in itself will take time and thinking of it all in one go will be overwhelming for you.

I would not like to think that the HRT is the thing that is making my withdrawal so difficult.
It's a tough one to call.

I imagine anxiety and low mood is something you have had to battle with for a long time. I feel your GP has really neglected you. Do you feel able to make a tapering plan to reduce the diazapam? I would do it as slowly as possible.

I have a tapering plan but cant really seem to get started on it as my mood keeps dropping really low. That is why I am wondering if I would have a better chance off the HRT.

I can see what you mean. I feel you need more guidance on this. Can you ask to see a specialist? You have the low mood that could be hormonal as well as the low mood that could be due to multiple medications.

Seen the 'specialist' today and he was not helpful.

What kind of specialist was that and what did they say? I am sorry you did not find them helpful.
