Title: Testogel confusion

Hi I have trawled the site for info but ended up more confused so here goes.
I am usually prescribed testogel at 50mg/5g making a sachet last 10 days.
I have now been given testogel at 40.5mg/2.5g and instructed to use 1 sachet per day.
Does this sound correct please?

Yikes - absolutely not! What on earth?!!! This is the dose for men. Who prescribed this? They are totally incompetent. This needs to be reported because unsuspecting women could end up having far too much! Doubly irresponsible because this is a product unlicensed for women so the doc prescribing it should take extra care to know what they are doing....The sachet contains approx the same amount of testosterone as the other sachets but to be accurate about it then make the sachet last 8 days. I don't like these higher conc T preparations being used for women because it is harder to use a very small blob on a higher concentration - the 1 % gels were better. I think Testim still does one though but the formulation is different ( used to be) and is very sticky and doesn;t dry so quickly.

Can you tell me what the numbers  relate to please?

The amount in grams (g) is the amount of gel in the sachet. The amount in miligrams (mg) is the amount of testosterone in the sachet. Dividing the latter by the former (in the same units) gives the concentration hence 5g gel = 5000 mg. 50/5000 = 1/100 = 1%
2.5 g gel = 2500 mg. 40.5/2500 = 0.0162 = 1.62 % so this gel is one and a half times more concentrated than the other sachets.
