Hi ladies,
I am under a specialist menopause clinic and have felt stable and well on everol 200mg patches for a couple of years. However symptoms have slowly crept back over the last 4-6 months.
A fortnight ago my consultant advised I increase to 250mg patch. My estrogen level had reduced from something like 1200 to 850 at the last blood test.
I was quite shocked as thought I was surely on the absolute highest dose and to be honest in a bit of limbo not knowing what to do about it. However after having an awful migraine today I don't think I have a choice but to increase the dose.
I just wondered if anyone else has taken a similar dose or had an experience of their body stopping absorbing the estrogen and what the next steps might be?

While waiting for an answer I thought the highest evorel patch was 100 micro-grams.

I wonder if you are not absorbing the oestrogen on the patches and it may be better to try another forum such as gel? I know a member on here had a similar thing with absorbing on the patches and she had an implant fitted. It meant she only needed 50 oestrogen.

Hi Flossieteacake,
sorry for cutting in;
you know with not absorbing the patches, is it basically that your symptoms don't improve and if I got an estrogen blood test, if my levels haven't risen then that would mean I'm not absorbing would it?
It's so hard to know sometimes.

I would go by symptoms. If a person has to constantly increase oestrogen and not feel any better I would suspect they had difficulties with absorbing it. I do not know anything about blood tests and if there are any other factors that will effect them.

Thanks so much flossie; I will give the 50 patch until January and if things haven't improved I think I may try the gel xxxx

100 is the highest but you can wear multiple patches at the same time

I will do some research into the implant. That sounds like a potentially good solution - more accuracy in terms of the dose.
I think I will increase my patches as advised and see what happens. Such fun!

Blimey, so there are more women who need loads.
I used to use 25mcg, now I went up to 125mcg, and am still sweating, I thought I was through the menopause, as I used to need 100mg.
I buy privately but would like them prescribed, however I don't know if the NHS believe that women need more than 100mcg.

I hope that works for you and helps with the symptoms.

Sorry Jeennijex but just a quick question for Dandelion if that's OK
Do you take 200 mg Utrogestan daily? I am on continuous HRT and take just below 75mg Estradot patch (cutting a bit off) and 100 mg Utrogestan so I just wanted to check if I should increase Utrogestan.

I found 100mcg not enough, so I added 25mcg patch
I thought I had come through this, as I used to only need 25mcg, what's going on?
thanks
