Title: Should i be getting a monthly bleed on HRT when almost post menopausal
Post by: Molly on October 18, 2022, 03:26:01 PM
Quick question girls, feel like I should know this but I dont.

I haven't had a proper period since probably may /june.  (2 days bleed in July.)

I am on 2 pumps of oestragel and  100 mg of utrogeston .

If I have turned menopausal and my periods have stopped should I still bleed on utrogeston?????

I am 50 and FSH is 95, very probable to being close to being post menopausal.

If you are post menopause and taking 100mg of utrogestan every night then you shouldn't bleed. x

Ahh ok….you don’t always bleed . It could be a sign that you’ve entered menopause and can switch to a continuous regime.

The usual dosage is 200mg if you’re only taking it for 10 days. x

Thanks dotty, I cant take 200 mg as im progesterone intolerant. I think I am pretty much nearly there when it comes to being post menopausal.

I just get confused when my consultant says I should have a bleed when finished taking the 10/11 days of progesterone but she says its not a period just the womb shedding. I haven't bleed in months on this type of hrt.

I guess Im just a bit worried.

Hi if you’re worried you could ask for a scan to see how thick your lining is. If you’re now post menopause you can take 100mg every day. X
