				Hello all

I’m trying to find out what patches are available estrogen only. I’ve tried estradot but didn’t absorb, which was disappointing as they stuck really well and are tiny. I had better levels on the Evorel but cannot stand the feel of them- like wearing cling film and they constantly peel at the edges and flare my psoriasis. Any other recommendations please? Ideally not soy derived as I’m Hypothyroid (the estradot was unfortunately)

 Many thanks for help

If you click on Forum- Site map then HRT preparations it gives a list of all the options. Not sure which are best but it will show you the various types and dosage.

ive been on HRT a month next week.

i know it may sound like a silly question but how do you know when your not absorbing the estrogen patch ?

 thanks xx

Disco, i would imagine you would know because your symptoms would either worsen or not get better?

I think there are a few patches. Femseven, Estraderm to name a couple .

				Hi Shoppingqueen

Could you expand more on your statement ‘not soy as hypothyroid’?I’m hypothyroid so very interested to learn some more as not heard this before. New information is very appreciated.

Sorry I can’t help re the patches as have never used them. Hopefully more ladies will be along soon.

				Hi Marchlove

Soy can interfere with absorption of thyroid hormones/ thyroid function. It was my pharmacist that noticed they were derived from soy and said she’d looked into it and they weren’t recommended for hypothyroidism. When I switched to Evorel my thyroid bloods went up without at increase in dosage. Evorel are from yams! I just find them crinkly. I guess I could try estraderm but I believe they are large too and plastic-y! :-)

				Thanks Nas!
There’s not a lot of choice, is there? I only wish they’d all be like estradot in sticking and size etc just a shame I couldn’t get enough from them!

Here’s a thread you might find useful regarding soy. The best and most informative posts are the ones by Hurdity.

Also on another forum, a menopause nurse, explains it:

“My understanding is that 17B estradiol (the oestrogen in all transdermal forms of HRT and most oral forms) is synthesised from a molecule extracted from wild yam and soy (diosgenin) which bears no resemblance to yam or soy once it has been subjected to the complex chemical processes required to form the estradiol.”

 I hope that’s useful xx

That’s great news Dotty and thank you for the link! I didn’t realise just took on what my pharmacist had said.
Maybe I could do two Estradot then. I’m going to try the Evorel again as I have some left. I’d gone back to gel but I find it makes me feel quite jangly.
Thanks so much for your help xx
