Pharmacist said he wants to query with GP as Vagifem and oestrogel aren't
both allowed . Am late perimenopausal and had started Vagifem before started systemic hrt. Surely alot women are on both?
-
Bungo - It is totally on for women to get local HRT alongside systemic HRT.
The following comes from the treatments button (red menu at the top)
" VAGINAL TREATMENTS
Local estrogen can be used for vaginal and bladder symptoms, when systemic treatment is not desired or appropriate. For some women, vaginal estrogen may be required along with systemic HRT."
It might help if you can give this to your pharmacist BUT he may still want to talk to a GP. Good luck 🤞

If both have been prescribed by your gp just who does he think he is to say the gp is wrong? Bad enough we have to deal with ignorant gps without adding ignorant pharmacists too. Grrr

Male? Young? Thick ............ >:(
Try another pharmacist? Lloyds is attached to most Surgeries these days so a quick nip into the GP should suffice ???
-
What a cheek! The pharmacist is just showing their ignorance. I Would take your prescription and go straight back to the surgery to ask for it to be endorsed by your G.P. And l would make sure you put the pharmacist straight in no uncertain terms!
-
Goodness me what more do we have to put up with, the ignorance is astonishing!

Lack of education as well as joined up thinking? :bang:

That seems really strange. I am on Oestrogel and Ovestin which is pretty much the same thing but just a cream not a pessary. I've had no problems collecting mine from our pharmacy? Hope so much it gets sorted for you very soon x
