I'm a little shocked that there isn't a thread on this :-\ . Canada is mourning her passing, she was a wonderful head of state and our Prime Minister was very fond of her. She visited Canada more than any other country during her reign, and she was very special to all of us.
My deepest condolences to the Royal family.
-
It's been a shock even though we knew it was coming. All feeling very strange.
The King set his mark today, personally greeting and shaking hands with the crowd outside Buckingham Palace. Very personal and touching.
-
Thank you for posting this C.C. I was astounded to see that nobody could be bothered to comment. The woman had a brain and dignity in abundance. A sad comment that nobody on this forum from the UK decided it was worthy of note.
-
It wasn't that I couldn't be bothered, simply that I wondered whether a thread would be considered political :'( (as the 1 that I began about Ukraine)
MayB Heather or Emma could have posted something to get us going .......... :-\
My memory of my Queen will be of her, looking well and smiling, with Liz Truss on Tuesday. King Charles greeted his public with affection and smiles earlier, even remembering to acknowledge the crowds at the back . As he walked away he looked, oh so like his Dad.
History in the making.

I think many were probably too shocked yesterday.
-
I don't think this is would be considered political CLKD (I could be wrong), whether one supports the Monarchy or not, it's still a sad occasion for the Commonwealth.
I understand that there is a 10-day mourning period?
-
Yes, very sad.
I’ve been crying listening to all the sad songs on the radio earlier this morning.
Mourning will continue for seven days after her funeral.
Seems weird that we have a King now. The Queen was all we’d ever known. :'(
-
I cried when I heard. Have spent all day watching it on TV. She was very beloved, gone but never forgotten 😞
And yes CLKD Charles is the double of his father
-
She was the only monarch, I expect most of us, have ever known.
A great lady and her passing is the end of an era.
She has had much sadness in the last few years, which she withstood with her usual fortitude and graciousness.
Very sad day indeed, thank you CC for starting this thread.

i too echo all those comments.
a life of service to otbers.
a truly remarkable woman

Many sports events have been cancelled or postponed: the Archery Community however have had or will be arranging a black arrow shoot - it's done when members in a Club pass as a volley - calling out the person's name. This will be a volley of all types of archery, the Queen's name will be called and God Save The King will be announced. Some Clubs have already performed their tributes.
Some Country Fairs are continuing as they take such a lot of expense and arrangements, with the idea of a moment's silence at 11.00 . Our Church bell tolled yesterday morning.
When Mum was a girl (she's 96) when someone in the village died the bell was tolled: once for a man, twice for a woman, 3 for a child. Mostly the person was known to have been ill as communities were so tight.
-
gosh thats so interesting CLKD.
i wonder where the tolling of the bell in your mums village dates from.
xxx
-
It was common across the land. 96 tolls happened in many churches yesterday.
-
yes they did.
a nice mark of respect i thought x
-
There have been some official goings on here as well. The Prime Minister and the Governor General (the federal viceregal representative of the Canadian monarch) signed the proclamation to recognize King Charles as the head of state and Canadian flags are flying half-mast all over the country.
-
They showed the Canadian signing of the proclamation on the TV here yesterday CC with some footage of some of the Queen's visits to Canada.
It felt so sad to me that the Queen seemed to summon up all her energy to do her last duty by appointing the new primeminister here and then to pass as she did. We are left with a lovely last image of her by her fireplace.
Our grandchildren had it all explained at a special assembly at school on Friday morning.
-
Limpy - any1 of us could have started a respectful thread
-
Indeed CLKD indeed. Other forums I am on actually posted as soon as she was placed under medical supervision. I was waiting to see if anybody on here commented. CC was the first with a lovely respectful post.
-
Without being picky, why didn't you start a thread :-\. U know by reading above why I didn't .
-
British Superbikes at Snetterton have held 2 mins silence on the starting Grid in respect to the Queen's death :-*
-
I just watched the Queen go past in Scotland on the first part of her final journey. :-*

I missed the live signing, I didn't realize there was such ceremony when a new head of state is proclaimed.
What time is her funeral on the 19th?
-
It is at 11am on the 19th here CC. I've just read that Big Ben will sound muffled at 9am.
We now have a Bank Holiday here that day.
-
BBC have put both Country File and Antiques Roadshow appropriate programmes on this evening.

Thanks, that means it will be on at 7 am here. I will miss most of it as I don't get home from work until 9:30. :-\
Wish we had the day off too.
-
C.C. I just wanted to reassure you that the majority of people here are to varying degrees, in mourning for the Queen’s passing.
Everything is being done. All tv channels do constant coverage, newspapers are full of stories and very local and individual remembrances are being done.
In fact, a friend of mine on MM, said farewell to her on my behalf as she travelled south today.
Sorry you don’t have the day off too, but when we watch it we’ll think of you

A sad comment that nobody on this forum from the UK decided it was worthy of note.
Its constant 'Queen mourning' here at the moment, which started from the moment she was under medical supervision and will be continuing for many many more days and weeks to come. People are talking about it in the Real World all day in the UK, with various changes to all sorts of areas of daily life. (e.g. many things cancelled out of respect at local and National levels) So, to be honest I suspect nobody thought to post anything on a menopause forum - as its about the menopause ?! :-\ I believe that not everyone and every place/company needs to make a comment on the Royal Family.

I hope that you are still able to watch some highlights later CC.
If it is any consolation that is all i will be doing. Not out of disrespect for the Queen but at the centre of all this massive TV coverage and ceremony that has to be performed is a grieving family having to do it all in the public eye. I really felt for Princess Anne yesterday who is travelling with her mother. Losing a second parent is a very strange feeling.
-
Me too. Loosing your mother is a major life changing event x
-
I have a pale pink powder compact in it's carrying box from 1953 with the Queen's head on it, handed to me by my Mum. I will fetch it from the drawer to stand in our lounge .........
-
Royal Company of Archers on duty by the Queen's coffin - the Royal children will take their turn later.
We aren't getting to the Club's black arrow shoot this evening :-\ due to my having been in the dental chair for over an hour :'(
-
that's a shame CLKD.
i hate going to the dentists.
hope you're ok
xxx
-
Tnx. Feel bruised where the dentist was pulling out roots :o
Interesting to see the 20 mins change over of the Company of Archers - missed seeing the Royals taking their place by the coffin. Such history. So much that I was totally unaware of. These rights of passage must be handed down for generations ....... and put into place well B4 they are required.
The Princess Royal will fly down with her Mum to London - does it take an hour as the Press suggested yesterday :-\
-
Yes, it actually does take about an hour Edin to London.
-
Criky! 8-9 in the car :o. Never flown, my idea of discomfort. ::)
Safely down at Northolt. In drizzle :-((((.
-
Just announced by our federal government, the 19th will be a national day of mourning, a Federal holiday, not a national holiday when all get the day off, not just government employees. This could change, however.
-
So moving at times :-\. So difficult to put the coffin into that transport plane and to remove it down the ramp without problems. The Bearers must have held their breaths!
-
Interesting C.C. but as you say this could change. Hopefully you will get to watch it live. xx
-
Most stores will B closed across England on Monday.
-

Just announced today by the provincial government that Monday will not be a holiday, just a day of mourning with a moment of silence at 1pm. No day off.
-
We have also got a moment of silence CC at 8pm on the Sunday evening before the funeral. On your doorstep or wherever you are.
We had a similar doorstep standing for the NHS during covid but for that we had hand bell ringing, saucepan/wooden spoon banging, whooping etc in our local high street.
Not sure how Sunday will be handled in silence and I've read that many think 8pm (childrens' bed times etc) is an awkward time.
-
I don't know how others feel, however I do think it's been really nice the way people have turned out and the respect that everyone clearly had for her.
I found it quite moving last night when her coffin was leaving Scotland for the last time as Scotland had a special place in the Queen's heart.
xxx
-
I agree. What ever 1 feels about a non-governing Monarchy, the public are, as they did with Diana, showing respect. Crowds along the road as the coffin travelled from Northolt to London, in drizzle .........
Apparently there is a move for everyone to stand outside and clap, can't remember which evening. Noooooo :'(
-
I think it's Sunday night at 8pm xxx
-
Shan't. Stopped clapping for the NHS .......... it got a bit out of hand.
The Queen is on her last journey - wondering whether the Royals have slept or had time for a bath and a sandwich?
-
Probably not, Camilla looked slightly bewildered the other day, bless her, I don't think they've had a minute
xxx
-
I watched some of the procession this morning, what pageantry and precision. I was pleased to see the throngs of well-behaved people paying their respects.
-
Hi C.C.
Do you know it's been absolutely lovely to see.
I have been encouraged by everyone's respect and warmth, the love for the Monarchy is still very much alive in the UK.
xxx
-
This morning on tv I saw David Beckham among the mourners in line waiting to pay their respects. It was nice to see, other than the reporters wanting a comment.
-
He was there at 5.00 a.m. yesterday, however - how many Police officers escorted him :-\ - I counted 5.
The Princess Royal has been back and from Scotland every other day ............. and the King was in Wales yesterday, then home to stand vigil with his siblings :o
-
My DD has been queuing for 10-5 hours but is nearly there now.
-
What are people doing for food/water/pee breaks? The King and William went amongst the crowds earlier, don't they think what a huge security risk this is without them joining in?
Get a better view on TV ;)
-
My DD took food and water with her, there are plenty of toilets around and people are being really good if you leave the queue for the toilet then they just let you back in. She was lucky enough to speak to William and also she saw the changing of the guards at the coffin. Looking for somewhere to have a decent meal now then they will be heading back home.
-
Hopefully menu prices haven't risen.
TV Coverage begins at 8.00 a.m. on Monday.
-
thats so lovely C.C.
she really was such a well loved monarch not only by people here in the UK but worldwide.
xxx
-
Any1 seen any Post Boxes decorated by those that knit or crochet?
Where will Cap Mark Phillips sit if he attends the Service :-\
-
MotoGP Paddock and Crowd have held 1 mins silence 8) in memory of our Queen :'( .......... silence all the way round, unlike the football crowds in Scotland >:(
-
Sadly i reached saturation point last night around the 8pm silence build up. It all felt too much part of a PR excercise and unecessary when we have a silence after the service today. I also feel the first 'final' service in Windsor should remain private as it is meant to be amongst family and close friends and not be televised.
We are hoping to spend the day with grandchildren or if not we will just go for a walk or do the garden. Tomorrow will be a very hard day for the royal family and possibly many other people.
-
Tn goodness for sunshine!
-
Coverage here started at 4 am. I was able to watch a few minutes of the service before I went to work. I imagine the networks here will replay the entire thing tonight. What I did see was very poignant.
-
The final service tonight is just for close family. It won’t be televised.
-
I think it helps having the support of your public although a long day wouldn't be my choice.
The pall bearers did well, hopefully they will be called to the Palace for a chat with The King.
-
Will she be interred tonight?
Saw that a spider caught a ride on the wreath during the ceremony, it was said it's a good omen.
-
Yes, privately at 7.30 I think. Beside the Duke, her mother and sister. So in a Tomb rather than in the ground.
Seeing the Fell pony, Emma, standing down the Long Walk to Windsor :'( then corgis at one point ..........
-
I was the same CLKD, when I saw Emma the fell pony and the two corgis that's when it got to me as well xxx
-
It was mentioned in commentary that the Fell and the corgis would be what many would remember.
Hopefully the Royals have slept .........
-
More than a thousand Paddington bears and other teddies left by the public in memory of the late Queen are to be sent to charity, Buckingham Palace says.
The toys were left at royal residences such as the palace and Windsor Castle after her death in September.
The bears have been professionally cleaned and will be delivered to the children's charity Barnardos.
How lovely. They won't be dumped after all 8) :-*

12 months ago today .......... :'(
