Title: Skin tag
Post by: Nicola Winter on September 03, 2022, 06:26:18 AM
Since starting HRT I've had a skin tag type thing appear on my bottom. I mean right on my bottom. It's fleshy and the size of a raisin. I've got an appointment in about 20 days with a specialist. It's giving me health anxiety and is troublesome when wiping that area, I've made it bleed a couple of times. Has anyone else had this?? What the hell is it 😭???

I wish it was, doc said it deffo isn't. He wasn't sure about it as it appeared so quickly. That's why I have to go see the colorectal specialist. The wait is causing me such anxiety.

Skin tags are a sign of ageing.  My dog had several and I've a couple ........... is it sore, does it bleed?  Could it be a large pimple ?  I get those  ::)

I have a few skin tags at the top of my thighs caused by my legs rubbing together at the top and chaffing. They are quite small and been there a few years, they don't bleed even when chaffed.

Have you had hemorrhoids before? The excess skin that a hemorrhoid produces can become a skin tag. The extra skin might remain even after the swelling has gone down and would explain the size and how quickly it has appeared.

No, never had hemeroids, can't spell them. This is just one blobby thing, tear shaped. Small but getting bigger (I think) hence the anxiety.

It's very hard to see/get to... not enjoying having hubby investigate it 🥺 I can feel it and touch it and it feels bigger every time, I could just be being paranoid.

It may just be an anal polyp.  I had one several years ago which a colorectal surgeon removed as it kept getting trapped but it didn't bleed. Not so long for you to wait to see a specialist ...one day less today.  :)

Hi, just wondered if you have had an anal fissure? I had a “skin tag” develop after having an anal fissure in the past. Can’t remember for sure, but I think they called it a sentinel pile. It developed as a result of the fissure (which was just a small split in the skin from me being constipated at that time. Before it healed, the fissure was quite sore and bled when I had a bowel movement. May not be the issue, but I thought I’d just mention it. J xx

Thanks for the suggestions, it does help to not feel so alone. I don't think I've had a fissure. I'll just have to wait and see what they say xx
