Hi discogirl,
I do not know the answer sorry, I'd be inclined to ask at a chemist/pharmacy, I'm sure they will be able to advice.

You can take them both together but I tended to wait a couple of hours between each when I was taking progesterone at night.
Now I take everything in the morning as it seems to work better for me. X

Thanks so much marchlove.
Yes I contacted my local pharmacy and she said that I can take the glycinate however I need to take at a different time to when I take the progesterone.
Thanks so much x

I take the magnesium a couple of hours before the progesterone.

Hi Joziel,
Do you take the magnesium glycinate?
Do you find that you're still absorbing the progesterone as well whilst taking the magnesium?
I really would like to take the glycinate again, however my sleep has been so horrendous I don't want anything to spoil the HRT at the moment.
Thanks so much x

I take magnesium bisglyclinate. I appear to still be absorbing the progesterone, but there is 2 hours since I took the magnesium so I'm doing what they advise by leaving that time...
-
Yes that's what I take too thanks Joziel, I'll give that a go.
How are you finding the progesterone and how long have you been on it?
Take care xxx

I was on 100mg for a few months and then it got increased to 200mg. I'm fine with progesterone, it makes no difference to me how much I take. It's estrogen I appear to be incredibly sensitive to...
-
Aw really. What are your symptoms with the estrogen.

Hello,
I just came across this thread and I would be grateful for any advice. I was not aware that magnesium can have an effect on progesterone absorption.
I take 100 mg Utrogestan every night and then use the Magnesium gel on my legs. Can this cause issues?
-
Hi Stella2,
Hope you're okay.
Well I'm new to HRT myself, so it may be best to start a new thread and ask the more experienced ladies on here.
But from my understanding it's to do with asbortion of the HRT medication in capsule form.
Best thing to do would be to ring a pharmacy, speak to the pharmacist, but that's the reason I take glycinate at a different time to my utrogestan pill.
I hope you get sorted
Take care xx

Stella - no, not if you're putting it on your legs!
You should not eat anything for 2 hours before taking utrogestan. So that would include not taking magnesium tablets. But if you're putting it on your skin, it's not going to affect you the same way...
-
Wow. This is really interesting. I take utrogestan and then magnesium citrate both just before going to bed. I had no idea it would affect absorption. Thanks for posting. I've been doing this for 2 years. Oops. I'll leave a gap now. Thanks for posting x

Thank you so much for your responses, I am glad to hear magnesium in gel should be ok. So much to consider! X
