You can use a bit externally as well.

Sorry to say that for some people it can take months to notice a difference. It did for me. For the outer area I mix a bit with vaginal moisturiser and apply it that way.
-
Yes, externally too but it does take a while for some women to notice a difference, an awful lot of patience sometimes needed I'm afraid!
-
Sorry if this sounds stupid can you use it all over externally or just the entrance . I find my clitoris has disappeared 😯 and I have no sex drive what a so ever
-
Nothing is stupid on here!
I use Ovestin internally, inserting with the applicator as far inside as is comfy. I also put a little on the end of a finger to use it on the outer labia; either that or KY Jelly - to keep the area less dry = itching.
Others find 'yes' or 'sylc' products on the labia helps. It's a bit Trial and Error. 4 me it was like razor blades :o up there and relief was felt within 5-7 days.

Please do not feel you cannot ask thing on here. As CLDK said, nothing is stupid. Your clitoris disappearing is part of vaginal atrophy and to me this indicates you need a lot of patience and kindness to yourself. No wonder you do not have a sex drive when you are so sore. It is okay to allow your skin to heal.

Don't be frightened to use it liberally, it won't be long before you start to plump up and look and feel normal down there, it just feels like it will take forever to work, but it will in time!

It took months for me to notice a difference, and I found it worked for me externally by mixing it with moisturiser initially, otherwise it would really burn. Now I am able to use it on its own. You do have to have patience unfortunately.

I apply it several times a day externally and not particularly carefully. I no longer get any irritation from jeans, swimwear etc. it’s miraculous stuff :)
Post crossed with Haydo’s. It stung me the first few times too but only for the first few days. Wish I’d thought about mixing it with moisturiser!

I agree that mixing it with a moisturiser is a good way to go.. finally found I can use Yes OB (everything else including yes water based has irritated me further) so I mix a blob with it and it's working well so far. It's a great tip I picked up from ladies here which has helped me through a fairly desperate time 'down below' and things are improving slowly! I do tend to be quite generous with it, morning and bedtime at the moment, and feel that the moisturiser adds another level of support to my skin at the same time.

Hi
Hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread.
I am trying to get something of my old self back down below. I don't have any problems internally, but externally things have deflated, and my clitoris seems to have shrunk right back, which I find really distressing and depressing.
I have all the hrt, patches, testim, vagifem and ovestin.
I'm really interested in what you are saying about the amount and frequency you use the ovestin. If you use it in the day, doesn't it get rubbed off by your underwear? Also, the tube is quite small, so how liberal can you be with it? I mean, how long should a tube last?
I'm getting desperate, I'm so down about it all. ( Boobs have deflated too, so it feels like all the things which make me womanly have been taken away).. :'(
Sorry to be so moany

Hello Dougalina. You are not being moany. I think when people say they use it daily, they mean everyday. This could be the night if you prefer. If it is applied internally then it should not come off on underwear. To apply to the outer area usually means the inner walls so I would not think that is affected by underwear. If you apply it to the actual vagina then I see your point about it rubbing off.
They say to use a pea size amount at a time. A tube lasts about a month for me.
I can understand why you feel down. Maybe a HRT review may help?
Just to say, I found baths made my symptoms worse so now I only have showers. I thought washing in water was a good idea but a menopause DR explained this is very drying. I now apply E45 cream before my shower, wash it off and then reapply some more cream once I am out the shower.

I've never had a discharge as I insert at night, after my bath; sticking underwear etc. hasn't been a problem. Sometimes I need to do a reload if symptoms niggle, my surgery usually prescribe two boxes.
You moan away, there's usually someone to listen! Better to use enough at night to avoid any discharge problems for at least 2-3 weeks then see how you feel B4 dropping to every few nights.
When I get the need2P feelings I take 2 'nurofen' 3 times a day for a couple of days to ease the nipping sensation.

I've often wondered why the tube is so small but with used alongside Vagifem I only need to use a small amount and it can last me 3 months.
I use both every day but never have a problem with it rubbing off anywhere else.
I do agree though if Ovestin is the only treatment one uses, it really should be a larger tube!

I’m in and out of water all day, I apply it externally on bits I don’t shave. Probably at least 8 applications a day and tube lasts about two weeks. I don’t wear pants as I wear leggings but never had problems with Ovestin transferring.

Thank you all so much, this is why I love this forum . Everyone takes time to reply and all have great advice . Thanks again 😀

I have a prescription for 2 tubes of ovestin a month and use internally alternate nights and liberally externally. It's all the hrt I use It took a long time for symptoms to get under control.
