I’ve been prescribed hrt for bone health as have osteoporosis and also thyroxine for low thyroid. I haven’t been able to take hrt before had bad suicidal ideation on progesterone and too scared to try it but I ache all the time have had fractures so worried about future. I’m going to try oestrogel at half a pump and use the utrogestan vaginally to try and avoid the worst side effects. I don’t want to start everything at once can’t decide what to do first, thyroid or hrt

Hi I’d get your thyroid sorted first x

Thanks, I keep veering back and forth and not starting either!

I don'tkknow enough about osteoporosis to really help, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon. I think there is a minimum amount of hrt required to be useful (3/4.pumps but not certain) and it seems to be used more to try to prevent osteopenia developing into osteoporosis. Once you have osteoporosis I think there are other treatments which I believe are better than hrt but would also avoid the progesterone problem.

Thanks that makes sense, I’ve just started the bisphosphonates for osteoporosis
