Title: Post menopause blood test results - please help
Post by: Shells99 on August 17, 2022, 10:21:52 AM
Hi there
I have been taking Tibolone for 18 months but I have been interested in trying testosterone for a while now, my GP isn't able to prescribe this and referred me to a HRT/Menopause clinic which has a 6 month waiting list.
I bit the bullet and went private to a GP Menopause Clinic and explained my symptoms and the reasons why i want to try Testosterone (zero libido, concentration, aches).
The GP insisted doing blood tests before deciding if she would give me the testosterone, saying that if my levels are 'normal' there would be no point in taking it.
She will be calling me with the results soon and I'd like to be prepared with the information regarding how to interpret the results, and what the post menopausal ranges are.

Can anyone advise where I can find the ranges that she will be guided by?

The tests that she ordered are;

Thanks in advance!

Post menopause - when was your final period?

Blood tests are reliably unreliable  ::).  make sure that you understand what the levels mean then you can make decisions.

Some one should be along with more info. so keep dropping into your thread.

Hi Shells,
You could try googling them individually.
I had a quick search & plenty came up - or maybe you could find them on private menopause clinics website.

Hi CLKD
Thanks for replying.
My last period was 4 years ago.
I was aware that symptoms are usually the better indicators for prescribing due to fluctuating hormone levels in peri and I mentioned this to the doctor.
She still insisted on the tests, perhaps because I'm well in to / through menopause?

Thanks Caskins.
I find it really hard to get what i need.
There are so many ranges dependent on your stage in life.  Plus I am already supplementing with tibolone.
I just hoped someone with more knowledge could drop in and say what no.s I would need or point me in the right direction.
