Title: Gel + Provera
Post by: CherryC on August 12, 2022, 08:40:12 AM
Hi, anyone on gel and provera? Think I read QueenofReds3 you are having some success with this regime - could I ask what quantities of gel you are using and the strength of the Provera?   I am currently on 3 pumps of gel and 5mg Provera - the jury is still out for me re the Provera but plan to give it a little longer. Would be interested to know your regime or anyone else and how it's going? Thanks. x

Hi CherryC
Yes I am on that regime now. I am on 2 pumps of gel which I put on my outer arm at the top in the morning. The provera which is 5mg I break in half on the great advice from a poster on here, this was because in the first week or so I was struggling to get up and felt drowsy for most of the day. So I take half after my dinner in evening and the other half in the morning with my brekkie. The drowsiness disappeared and so far so good. My night sweats gone, morning anxiety which was really bad went but has returned a little which I am putting down to covid recently. My achey legs were better and generally feel back to me again, which I am so pleased about as I have tried patches , tablets and gel with Utro. Are you still having side effects? It is all trail and error, the gynae said after prescribing the provera if they did not work it was the Mirena coil next :o

Hi QueenofReds3, thanks for replying and that is very interesting about splitting the Provera. I initially took it at bedtime but found it was making me feel tired all morning.  I then changed to taking it around 4pm with a cuppa and this has worked fine and stopped the tiredness in the morning.  However one side effect I am having is it is making me wee more, like it is acting as a diuretic, night time being the worst.   I have decided to get a sample tested at the docs just in case it's a urine infection as slight tingling also but this started shortly after starting the Provera.  I also feel a little flat and still a few mood swings.  This could be due to the wrong amount of oestrogen so may try adjusting that one way or the other, but feel it's more likely the progesterone. I will carry on for a bit longer and may try splitting it as you are.  Thanks for the advice and glad you are getting on well with it! x

Hi Rosie Roo, thanks for your reply and good to hear about your regime and how you are getting on with it.  Also pleased to hear it doesn't make you wee more which makes me think the Provera may not be the cause after all, fingers crossed.  I agree about the dreaming more! I hope it continues to go well for you. x
