I constantly have this out of balance feeling
I can not get too excited it make me feel faint, definitely cannot get bad news , that will make me feeling more faint and the end of world is coming.
even like cannot find something make me extrema anxious feel like faint.
I am 50, been in peri over 6 years now, skipped a few period, but again have regular period this month last month , and not light at all, but not flooding like used to be..

Are you on HRT?
-
I am not on HRT
Are you on HRT?
no, I am not on HRT
-
I have migraine with aura , and period in not light , that means estrogen not low yet ?? but every time i do a test , the estrogen lever are showing very low to below average , yet my period is not light, i am really struggling now
-
I'm not sure what you're saying there? Periods have nothing to do with whether you need estrogen. You can have them heavy, light, longer gaps between them, shorter gaps between them - it is all meaningless.
If you have symptoms (as you do) then you can request HRT. So why not do that and see if you feel better?

judging from volume of my period looks like estrogen is not low, yet still i have so many sympton.....
-
thanks for reply , i am in a mess now, and do not know if this is all caused by hormone
-
The volume of your period has nothing to do with anything...!
I'm not sure why you don't just try some HRT though? If you're feeling bad, there is nothing to be lost by trying it. You can stop it if you don't feel it helps.

Hi Lilian,
Sorry to hear you are struggling, I suggest you go to your GP and they are likely to offer HRT which can help a lot. In my experience they prescribe HRT because of your age and symptoms.
There might also be other things they can do for you. But don't suffer on your own! Let us know how you get on. x

thank you. does it help with mood related issue as well? I have asked for it , my Gynae said better wait as I still have period adding more will mess things up , and plus I have migraine with aura , could be risk factor for HRT , so they are reluctant.....
-
Yes, HRT definitely helps with mood related issues. I too still have periods but my GP assessed my symptoms and based on my age she said I have many symptoms (physical and emotional) of falling oestrogen so she was happy to prescribe. The fact you have periods should not stop you getting HRT but I am not sure about whether migraines would. Do any of you ladies know?

I have asked around about the migraine with aura in another thread, answers are not conclusive.
but just saw another member posted here , that she got bad migraine with HRT.....
-
I just read the migraine thread and it looks like you might be ok with Oestrogel. It is absorbed more slowly through the skin.
If I were you I would get a second opinion and you might well get a different answer from the last person. x

lilian, I have just posted on your other thread!
HRT is very definitely NOT contraindicated for women with migraine aura and the right type of HRT at the right dose will probably help. Menopausal migraine aura is often caused by hormonal instability. As Katherine said Oestrogel would be your best bet.
If you have bleeding problems, a progesterone coil like a Mirena or low dose Jaydess might be recommended.
If you still have migraines when using HRT, additional preventative medication will be needed but I would get the hormones sorted first.
I hope that helps.

thankyou, my bleed still not light at all, just checked day 2 or 3 of my cycle, still bleed quite a bit , i never had that before i was treated for Hyperthyroidism, I guess what ever that pill I took had some effect on the liver, so it can not clear excess estrogen? maybe, I do not know , and caused all the mess I am experienceing now ??
so if you are on HRT, are you just spotting or period get light or heavy? I really fed up with a heavy bleed
-
Lilian I think the Mirena coil makes periods lighter, so maybe a combination of Oestrogel and a Mirena might be the best thing. You could see a new GP and request them, you could show them this thread so you have some backup information. Judging by this thread you should be able to get them.

right now , i am so scared something bad (health related) has already happened to me. anxious thoughts made me instantly felt severe nauseous, then I sweat , shaking,
-
lilian, I'm not a medic but it doesn't sound like anything serious to me. Heavy bleeding is very common. I completely understand your health anxiety but like migraines, it's yet another symptom of hormonal instability during menopause, they are all connected.
I think you need to start an HRT regime and then look at other medication for migraine prevention and perhaps anxiety if needed.
-
today is another bad day, outside very hot, have to hand wash some underwear, while doing it ,gloom doom thoughts come to my mind .., felt suddenly nauseous, gaging, sweat, body felt rigid ... horrible experience can not ever managing the little stress like this......
-
lilian, try some HRT.
By the way, I used to get migraines before HRT. Since starting HRT, I have only had one - since March. I used to get them several times a week. For me, they were caused by low estrogen. Or maybe the desogestrel pill I was also on.
Migraines with aura is NOT a reason you can't have HRT. You need to have a transdermal kind - so a patch, gel or spray.
As for bleeding, it's hard to predict what the effect will be but like someone else said if you keep having heavy periods then the Mirena coil might be best if you want to try it. The Mirena after 6 months stops all bleeding and it stays in place for 5 years.
If you have heavy periods you probably also are low in iron, which is going to make you feel more tired and exhausted....
