Falling down .... being held up in places with pit props. Neonatal unit has been moved into a temporary newly built area, 'fit for purpose until 2030'. So much for monies being promised to the NHS >:(
Kettering Hospital - the same.
Any1 in a Health Region which is falling apart?
-
Blimey CLKD you've really got it in for the NHS lately haven't you?
-
Why do you say that? :-\
Government actually - not being ahead of the game by reducing monies paid into the various depts, rebuilding etc.. I don't think that these two hospital will be alone in their age in that they need rebuilding or updating.
-
OK then the government. :)
I read the posts on here most days & help out if & where I can with menopausal woman looking for support & advice.
I just have noticed recently quite a few of your posts sounding a bit negative about the health system etc. I'd hate for the forum to become a place where it more about political matters than health that's all.
I find politics is all over the media these days - maybe you could post your concerns on a government forum rather than a menopause. I'm sure you'd get many replies & support. :)
-
MayB not. Due to various governments not supporting elderly care, mental and womens' health and because this is about health overall, much of it concerned with menopause .......
My biggest problem with 'promises' made by various governments either don't materilise at all due to regular changes of Ministers, or don't get paid over in bulk so that changes can be made to benefit the population.
Reading the business pages recently - had to do something in the heat wave ::) - brought to my attention many comments about how much money has never been handed over.
-
All very interesting if one is interested in reading about the faults of the government on a menopause forum! :o
I'm sure I have read somewhere in the rules of the forum that there should be no political views posted. :-\.....off for a look/see.
-
This isn't meant as a Political thread, sorry if you interpret my written word as such, however my statements are factual. Who else funds Health Authorities? Do U agree that people should have to work or be admitted to Hospitals that are falling down ........ :-\
What's your real problem, what do you need to prove? Lack of menopause education is the fault of various governments over the years. Fact. Lack of funding over most specialists has been common. Cutting costs won't improve health care.
There's a thread about how more money will be made available - that's political too but I didn't read it as such. Started by ATB. NHS obtains it's money from the government via taxes.
-
I'm sure that you found something to throw at me. Why the aggro, what's your worry?
-
Calm down CLKD. You are being very confrontational - I simply want to say that I am fed up with your negative posts about the state of the country. It is depressing to read it in the papers without reading it here FGS I have heard enough about politics.
I suppose I am asking you to limit your views on the state of the government & instead of starting a new topic just keep to one.
I don't want to cause any trouble & I know from years & years of being a member of this forum that there will always be confrontations with us woman of a certain age.
We go back a long way CLKD/Pepper, I remember when you 1st joined & you have always said you never really suffered from hot flushes, more of a warm glow however you are so knowledgeable on anxiety/depression problems.
I hope we understand each other & I haven't offended you in anyway as it was never my intention.... just fed up of all your political, government, & NHS slandering. :)

Not sure why this is being brought up on here especially as most people won’t even know where you are talking about.
The QE hospital is at King’s Lynn in Norfolk and my Late Mum spent 3 weeks in there and even though there were props in there then, the care she got was wonderful. The staff were so kind, the food was really good, the hospital was very clean, parking was good and it was just a really positive experience.
A new hospital is on the cards for King’s Lynn as it is now older than the 30 years it was expected to last.
-
I thought the Margate one, was being referred to. Couldn't understand why??
-
There are several hospitals affected in the UK. These are the two that I have personal experience of and certainly when Dad was treated in QEII in 1995, the care was appalling. Trays of food left at the ends of beds so that patients were unable to reach: if patients were asleep no one gently woke them, the trays were removed without checking that the patient required help with feeding. Bell pull cords are out of reach for hours ........
I'm raising awareness as to the difficult situation that will affect many of us if Health Authorities don't get the monies required. After all, we don't live in a 3rd World country. Most people can use a search facility to see how their HA is coping. We've heard so much about the effects of Covid, now the public need to become aware of how else the NHS is struggling.
Aprilflower - do you mean that Margate has a hospital which is falling down ?
-
Not that I am aware, that's why I was confused.

There are a few QE hospitals aren't there?

Yep.

There are indeed but I think it’s the only one with props! also CLKD lives in the next county I believe.
-
I see you have amended the title thread CLKD. 👍
-
I don't live in the next County but have long-term connections to the Hospital ;)

What i find more 'sad' if that is the right word is that ive noticed that younger members in general on this forum do not start threads in 'This n That'.
Many are started by older members or those who have long gone black.
Maybe it a reflection of the times we live in or a feeling of being swamped out ?
Maybe i will have to start a new thread on the subject !! :D

Minnie - what does “those who have long gone black” mean?
-
Probably not worded well. Members who have left the forum and whose names are now written in black.
-
'this and that' is obviously topics about non-medical issues that aren't related to peri-or menopause.
New Members often become lost in the 'new members' room :-\. Having trawled back during the years, many have asked question which have never been answered. Others choose their 'room' to ask their questions.
Many of the threads in 'here' go back years++

In other words dated and doesn't appeal to the younger members. Maybe time for a 'this n that' rethink ?

Goodness. Dated?! Rethink? Why? :o
Nothing to stop someone (young or older) from adding a subject of their choice to "this n that".
Think of it as the "miscellaneous section". Some of us enjoy contributing to many of the threads there ::)
-
Why :-\ it suits those of us who regularly read and respond .
My greeting is 'welcome' followed by the very positive 'browse round, make notes'. The members can then read the threads that appeal.
After all Minusminnie - you've taken part in "this and that" a lot since 2021 ::)

I actually look at this in a different way as many of the threads are still active with a lot of recent activity. To me that means these subjects are still relevant and their evolution over time adds interesting history. If something that I'm interested in isn't being discussed then I'd create a new thread but if there's already a thread about it then I'd add to that thread.

Yes i returned again to MM when Padine (an older member) started the Book Title thread and i have added since. I'm not a younger member.

I know it is just that i have noticed the absence of younger members. Just an observation really.

Maybe the popular threads with members names in black could each become a sticky. That might make the 'this n that' section look more appealing for starters.
