Title: Side effects of Utrogestan
Post by: RachelLH on July 05, 2022, 11:46:23 AM
Hi, I've been taking HRT for 6 6 months now - I still have periods so I'm taking Utrogestan for just 12 days but am am feeling so low for the first few days. I'm considering stopping altogether as it's having an awful effect on me. I will speak to my GP but if she isn't really helpful, I was going to try and find someone privately,at least for a consultation. I understand Utrogestan can have this effect, many have the coil fitted instead. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Rachel,
I've been having problems with utro, &it got so bad after 1 day last weekend I felt almost suicidal, I felt so low &exhausted.
I seem to be sensitive to the progesterone in general.
Just wondering if you've tried any other types of hrt?like the sequi patches instead. Fem7 is supposed to be a better tolerated type.
I'm post meno by 3 years &I'm trying this past week to have a trial without anything . I hope you find something that suits you .

I really feel for you that sounds awful - I have been really teary the last few days and felt very low. I've not tried any alternatives yet but I definitely can't carry on like this. I will look into those alternatives. Thank you

Hi Rachel - have you tried taking it vaginally to try to minimise side effects?

I have no side effects from using vaginally. It works really well
