Title: Vagirux advice needed
Post by: Weeloz on July 01, 2022, 07:48:09 AM

Afternoon all  came of hrt patches and vagirux as I was getting bleeding . The doctor said the vagirux shouldn't cause bleeding  it will be the hrt

Has anyone else who just uses vagirux and no other hrt has bleeding from it like a period .
I am using a moisturiser now but don't feel it is enough as still dry and sore . But I am afraid to go back to using vagirux in case I get bleeding again .
Is there also the risk of it thickening your womb lining too .

Please help my sex life is non exsistent

Get some 'vagifem' or 'ovestin'.  Ring your Surgery today and ask.  The former is a pellet inserted into the vagina, the latter is inserted via an applicator which can be washed after use.  I find that latter satisfactory.

Occasionally there is enough active ingredient to cause side effects which should settle during the initial 2/3 nights loading treatment; i.e. soreness of breasts.  Which HRT have you been prescribed?

A moisture won't replace the oestrogen being lost, some ladies do use VA treatment as well as 'yes', 'sylc' or other products.  I find KY jelly enough when necessary.

'they '   :-\ is this in the UK?  GPs shouldn't stick to 1 medication especially if the patient doesn't 'get on' with something!

That is not good enough!  MayB have a word with a pharmacist to see if it is actually cheaper than 'vagifem' or 'ovestin'?  Let us know ;-).

Also speak to the Practice Manager?

I use Vagifem every day and a small dab of Ovestin most nights too. My meno specialist said it was quite safe to do so.

Hi weeloz:  ditto on what Tinkerbell said.  I use vagifem x 5 nights a week as well as a tiny dab of estrogen cream for outer area and have been on this regime for approx. 3 years.  No bleeding whatsoever as it is local not systemic.  From what the other very knowledgeable ladies mention, systemic HRT can cause bleeding.  All the crap we have to go through just to stay comfortable but men can buy Viagra and testosterone over the counter.  We live in 2 very different worlds.

I would use it daily if your symptoms are bad. I know doctors seem to insist on using it 2 or 3 times a week but it is very mild and can be used daily.
