I seem to have gone down hill considerably in the last few months.
I had covid in Jan and was badly affected re Brian fog and fatigue. But at Easter I noticed ability to exercise really diminishing, motivation and also increasingly achey feet and knees. I still had some libido but that’s completely gone.
I only work two days but one of those days is completely on my feet. I’ve started to ache from midday onwards, Hobbling by evening and the next morning they’re sore and stiff.
I went up to 75 patch from 50 after oestrogen was showing to be 134 about 4 weeks ago. I’ve noticed really slight improvements but night sweats and insomnia returned during this Last week over my period.
I’ve got hypermobility. I’m heavier than I used to be but only just under 9 stone. I’m trying to do some exercise and weight training.
I remember v quick improvements when I first started on 25 back in nov - could I still improve over the next 2 months at this level?
Would testosterone help joints and muscles?
Should I make an appointment before my 3 month review?
I am on the waiting list for Newson as I’ve wondered if it’s testosterone that I need. Gp might give but I think it would take a longer time and they’d insist I go further up on oestrogen.

To add, I switched to everol last week from estradot due to shortages.
By chance the estradot prescription came through on the same day and I guiltily picked it up. However after a week on everol I’m wondering if I was better on estradot and put a new one one.

Ah I’m so sorry to hear that!
It’s all over, I feel the ligaments feel sore and inflamed.
It would help if I was able to sleep more I feel.
I can feel the estradot helping a bit today. Will persevere and see if constant use of estradot helps.
I did have awful calf pain at first on 75 which has definitely improved a little.

As oestrogen levels drop muscles may become lax = aches and pains. Have U tried over the counter pain relief on a regular basis?
Do U have restless legs, mine were cured by eating bananas every day.
Cramp is due to a lack of salt in the diet.
-
Hi, yes I use pain killers but it doesn’t always work - I think when they all stiffen up too.
So it’s more likely to be oestrogen than testosterone?
-
Yep. Dropped arches are 'common' in menopause. Perhaps get some good insoles for your every day shoes? With supports? MayB a chiropodist would give advice? Then U can let us know.

I’ve always had flat feet. It’s more that muscles don’t recover as they used to.
I’ve tested positive today for covid so that might explain the extra layer of aching.
-
Sorry to hear you've tested positive for Covid Clarella. That can't be helping.
I got plantar fasciitis in my 40's and was told it was very common in peri or menopausal women. One of my sisters is suffering with this now too.
In the end I found Fitflops (the shoe brand not flip flops!) were really helpful. They are on the pricey side but often have a sale or you can find a lot on eBay etc.
I was also advised to avoid going barefoot at home.

I had the aching feet as if I'd been walking around the shops all day. Some of that was due to fibromyalgia but on HRT it totally disappeared.

I've had this problem with feet for a few years. Arches are low but not an issue according to a physio. Im slim but also weightlift so wondering if this is causing the inflammation, eg if lifting 100kg does this put pressure on the feet and cause inflammation? Really bugging me as apart from occasional 'good day', I can only tolerate even runners for a few hours and want to be able to wear regular shoes. I also cycle to commute to work and have noticed that the pressure from the pedalling inflames the feet. My left knee also causes alot of pain but nothing on MRI so it's a mystery. Started hrt last month but no improvement so far.

Last year I got sore front ball of foot pain (metatarsalgia) then my arches were sore. I complained to my doctor and asked if I should see podiatrist. She told me not to waste my money and by a good foot insoles.
I’m from Australia and by Footlogics it’s helps a lot. I also have there thongs called Tiki Girl, that I wear around the house. It make a real difference, takes about a month to get use to them, now I noticed no difference and it feels strange not to have them

I think this must be it - I also don’t think im on enough hrt yet. It’s been v noticeable the last two months, and libido completely disappeared during this time.

If you experience pain for a long period, then it is most likely worth trying to do exercises in order to feel normal during the day. I found some good exercises here https://www.seniorfitness.net/ and I hope it helps you too. Of course, it is worth consulting a doctor about this, we need to carefully monitor our health

Thank you.
I signed up to a personal trainer though I’ve not been able to see him in reality very regularly due to life stuff.
I have a hypermobility diagnosis but only had joint issues after my children .
So much got better with the second pregnancy too (though deteriorated again with peri) that I think much of it is hormones.
As an update; I’ve started 100 over tbe last week and a lot of symptoms in hands and feet are noticeably better. (Burning and tingling which may be Raynauds related.) I also went back to estradot (I have a mix) and sadly think it is better for me some how. It would be the one that’s impossible to get!
Also today I’m not hobbling like a 90 yr old. My feet have a mild ache like they did after a night out in heels when I was 20 but barely noticeable. i am wearing ASICS for work though. I’d love to be able to go back to my boots or normal shoes.
I also started taking higher amounts of vit d and k2. I also read k2 is needed for collagen. Vit d was 74 but I want to see if being optimal helps. (I’m also an autoimmuney person!)
I don’t think 100 patches will be enough if I’m honest. I also think I may well need testosterone but willing to optimise oestrogen first!

Basically my feet feel less inflamed.
I think it’s linked to my fine blood vessels / possible Raynauds. Which a Gp mentioned
Always had chilblains as a child. Never had full Raynauds but could get the odd white finger. My sister is worse.
-
That's really interesting ..I also have raynaud's, but for years was only really aware of it in my fingers as would have worn socks etc in winter. Definitely feet colder the past few years which coincides with late perimenopause when found unable to wear shoes. I'm living in Crocs for most of the day .
