Title: Awful first period while taking Androfeme/testosterone
Post by: Winter on June 30, 2022, 08:33:24 AM
Oh my goodness. I'm off to see the doc this morning, I've been taking Androfeme for just over a month and thought I was getting away without side effects and then I had terrible PMS, and now have a painful period and much heavier bleeding than normal. My specialist said it shouldn't affect my cycle but it clearly is. I'm having awful thoughts too. My oestrogen was at a good level so was appropriate to take T. Anyone else have issues when starting?

Morning.  What do 'specialists' know  >:(. Any addition of hormones must affect the body, otherwise why take them  :-\

Let us know how you get on at the Drs.?

Perhaps put the product name into the search box to see if threads pop up?  Make notes ;-)

I'm back. GP is a specialist in women's health - she said testosterone really shouldn't have affected my periods - and asked if I'd been stressed. Yes, I have been, very, but I've been stressed at times before, even more so, and it doesn't affect periods that much, but this is WAY different. She said possibly my mood could be affected - but Androfeme is  mild and shouldn't be having strong effects. I'm going away on 11th and not sure I can cope with feeling like this - so options are to continue and hope it passses or just stop it.

Hi Winter, I’ve just read your post and
I’m in a similar situation.  I started Androfeme about 12 days ago and currently have a painful period from hell, a bit like labour pains!!! Not had one like this for about 2 years, been on HRT (2 pumps Oestrogel & 12 days cyclical Utrogestan 200mg) for around 2.5 years.  It took about 6 months for my HRT regime to settle but wanted to try Testosterone for many issues, bladder pain, libido, brain fog & get up and go.  This is concerning, I’ve also felt slightly nauseous and sore breasts, it’s like as though it’s brought about really bad PMT.  Assuming your period has now finished do you feel ok again?
Anyone had some side effects that have gone or settled down?

One cycle isn't enough to pin the blame on androfemme. It could be your own cycle producing abnormal spikes (as is normal in peri).

Hi Bev,
Yes, my period was longer and heavier, but when it ended things did settle down. I've now got IBS which I'm not sure is linked, but I'm in a spell of stress and change, so it could be totally coincidental. I'm six weeks in on Androfeme, no changes yet.
