I’m feeling really fed up at the end of my tether. Used Yes Yes moisturiser before starting Ovestin. At first the Ovestin was working it wasn’t perfect but I felt more comfortable, now it’s stopped after about 3 weeks. So fed up can’t keep on like this. Any advice please 🙏

Hello Tired Lady. Are you using ovestin every day? I find that helps. Also, there is a supplement called seabuckthorn. I have found that to be the most useful thing for the dryness. I buy capsules from Holland&Barrets.
3 weeks is still early on in your treatment so do not worry. It can take time for the dryness to improve.
-
I agree with Flossie. 3 weeks is early days. Use the Ovestin every day, perhaps twice a day - sparingly but getting it everywhere. It helps to (sorry) squat above a make-up mirror to be sure you really are getting it everywhere...(!).
Which YES moisturiser were you using? I find the YES OB to be much better than any of the others. The others are very watery and just come away easily whereas the YES OB is oil-based (organic plant oils) and it really lasts.
You could also try the internal YES VM applicators. You can buy them pre-loaded or (Cheaper) you can buy YES VM by itself in the big tube and then buy vaginal applicators separately in bulk on Amazon and load them with the YES VM - which works out cheaper, especially if you use each applicator a few times.
Try: Ovestin AM and PM. YES OB in the middle of the day. YES VM internally just before bed. Throw in some Vagifem pessaries too (internal local estrogen). Sorry, who would have thought looking after your vag could be a whole new hobby in its time consuming-ness ;D ;D ;D

A new hobby :D ............ 1 with thorns in it, 4 me it was like razor blades :o up there >:(
It's important to use 'ovestin' and/or 'vagifem' regularly, especially in those 1st 3 months.

Flossuetracake - can you tell me more abiut the seabuckthorn. Never heard this before.
Dosage??? How komh did it take to work???
Thanks x

I found I needed both Vagifem and Ovestin, and I mainly use Vagifem internally and Ovestin externally. But every so often I will insert Ovestin. And I use it more often then two times a week.
At the moment I trying two nights then one night off.
I bought sea buckthorn but haven’t use it yet. I really don’t think I can afford to use it. On my bottle it says two tablets two times a day. That works out to $90 a month, so nearly a $1000 a year. :o
With all the Vagifem, Ovestin, Yes VM, Olive and Bee and now for my ass Rectogesic and a new one called Puracura at $50 a jar (and if it works it’s like VA, I will be using it for life.
I’ve never spent so much money on my vagina and ass :o

It is a natural supplement and helps to lubricate. I take one a day and I felt it started to work after about 3 weeks. Here is a link to some information for you.

What a shame it is so expensive were you are. It is £20 here and only 1 capsule a day is needed.
-
Lyncola, Olive and Bee is £18.99 here for 57ml and YES OB is £11 on Amazon for 150ml - so much cheaper. I find them about as good as each other, so go with the YES OB.

Flossieteacake thank you so much.
I've just ordered some. It seems to get good reviews for all sorts if dryness. I get a sinus issue - hormonally linked - I'm going to try it for that.
It says to take 4 tablets a day the durst 2 weeks. Did you do that? Or just take 1 a day???

I did not even notice that! I only take 1 a day every day. I have found it has really helps with vaginal dryness for me but not the dry eyes I get.

Fabulous. One out of two isn't bad. 😁

Haha, maybe you could try one to see if that is enough for you? It would save money.

I take sea buckthorn but found that one, and then I tried two, a day initially did nothing for me, so did the two week loading up (a bit like vagifem!) but now take just one a day. It has helped me with VA and also my skin generally is less dry.
-
Thanks haydo. So the 2 week loadng was needed to help and then reduce???
-
Yes, I did the two week load up but have found that I’ve only needed to take one a day since then.

Another sea buckthorn purchaser here!
I’m taking 2 tablets twice a day for 2 weeks. Then 2 once day ( I think).

On the subject of Olive and Bee joziel does Yes OB works as a sex lube?
As well as using Olive and Bee at night before bed I use it as a lube for my dildo. I know that Olive and Bee is made for a natural sex lube but can be use for vagina atrophy.
I would just like to say that I hadn’t had a VA flare up for over 14 months. I couldn’t understand why, then it clicked, my hubby had a major operation and no sex for ten weeks.
I found using a dildo if my husband is unavailable two times a week helps a lot. I wish it was a different story as I don’t like it when a doctor says use it or lose it, but it did make a difference with me
-
Hi - there is a convo about this somewhere else recently (I think called vaginal dilators) - but yes I totally agree. I use a dilator twice a week with the 'use it or lose it' in mind. I also want to feel confident about pelvic exams and ensure smear tests remain easy and possible as I age and sticking a dilator up there a couple times a week for 10mins seems a relatively easy thing to do.
And yes, you can use the YES OB as lube for sex - I don't think it is condom-safe though, as any oil-based lube won't be - but you can put it up there, they actually make the same internal pre-loaded applicators they make for YES VM with YES OB, although I don't use those.

Hi Everyone, thanks so much for all the advice, really appreciated :)
So can I use vagifem and ovestin at the same time internally or just vagifem up there and ovestin everywhere else?
I laughed about the time thing yes its a really time consuming thing!!!
Also did I understand right did you find that sex helped, sorry I dont know how to quote people from here but a lady said it I think? Any other tips gratefully received, I will have a think about the sea buckthorn. I use Yes moisturiser, maybe I will give the oil base a go!!

To quote somebody you go to their post and there will be an option to click 'quote'. It is easier on a laptop then the phone. :)
Vagifem is a pessary so can only be inserted. I would not insert ovestin at the same time but rather put it on the outer area. You can do this daily.

Can you use Vagifem with your patches? I use Fem Seven Conti (just started). I'm very in the dark about it all. I have heard that you can use Progesteron gel separately and just have estrogen patches which I think I would prefer, has anyone done this and could they help me out please if possible, I'm not sure whether its available on the NHS or not. Thanks a lot

You don't need to use Vagifem and Ovestin internally at the same time, that would be overkill ;D You can use the Vagifem internally and the Ovestin externally. That's what I prefer to do. The Ovestin internally can be a bit messy because it comes out. It also contains chlorhexidine, which I'm not a fan of inserting into my vagina(!) because it's going to kill bacteria - including the good guys - and affect the microbiome. But it's good for externally if you have any discomfort.
And yes, sex (or dilators!) help keep everything functioning but it's got to be comfortable, you can't just make yourself stick things in there if it's hurting, that's going to do more harm than good. But once you've got everything feeling okay again with the local estrogen then putting stuff in there is going to help it all remain elastic and accommodating(!) - and orgasms also have health benefits, with or without penetration!
For sure I find the YES OB better than YES VM. It stays put for a whole day and everything glides about better. YES VM I just find wet externally and then it quickly comes off. But I like it internally, in the applicators.
