				Hi all,

I’m wondering if anyone else notices a difference in the effect of patches when it’s warmer. I’ve noticed the last few days that I’ve had a bit of formication which was a previous low estrogen symptom for me and then when I applied a new patch today I felt almost like a rush of estrogen(panicky/jittery…you know the story).  Is it possible that hot weather affects absorption? Just curious.

Certainly hot weather saps me of energy, I lack appetite and feel queasy.  Could it be that the patch doesn't touch the whole area as it should, due to the skin being sweaty?

CLKD -It’s possible I guess. It begs the question though that if that is the case how do you prevent it :-\

-
Drying the skin thoroughly as well as holding the patch so that it covers the area until 'stuck' might help?

Ah ok, thanks for that. Just been scrolling through previous posts to see if I could find some hints & tips.

Hot weather (above 90oF) does affect patches and can cause a decrease in their potency.  If you live in a tropical region like me, you've done unhealthy amounts of research about this.  Like this article, which admittedly doesn't deal with peri/menopausal treatment but looks at our patches:

Not only that, but you also have to find out about the cold-chain of custody that your patches have gone through to get to you.  I have been waiting for two months for my pharmacy to respond to my inquiry asking them whether they transport these medications in temperature-controlled vehicles or not.  As I live in a place that is above 90oF every day between June and September....it's sort of important to me.  I'm not holding my breath for a reply.

I've been trying the patches (of varying sizes and shapes) since late April - just yesterday switched to gel packets (Divigel - it's pre-filled daily packets of gel) as I've been feeling really crap again and did not seem to be consistently responding to the patches.

Good luck.  And I'm sorry.   :-\
