Title: My journey to hrt
Post by: Lavender on June 06, 2022, 11:49:26 AM
I'm 45 and started on everol 50 2 weeks ago. I also have the mirena fitted that covers the progesterone part of hrt.

My journey to get here has been a bit unusual. I had been suffering with perimenopause symptoms for a good few years and whilst waiting for my copper coil to be changed to the mirena during lockdown I was on norethisterone as contraception. I felt better while on this then stopped when I finally got the mirena fitted.

Over a year later my symptoms had been back and it was really getting to me so I took some of the norethisterone that I had left over for about 7 weeks and my symptoms began to ease again.

I spoke to my GP about this but they couldn't prescribe this so referred it to a specialist who suggested that I try estrogen as norethisterone can sometimes have an estrogenic effect.

So I decided to give it a try and I am beginning to feel better and have more energy, better sleep and I actually have lowered levels of pain. It's only small differences so far but hopeful for better results over the next few months.
