Following on from my post yesterday, does anyone take anything stronger than vagifem/ ovestin?
My day of hell yesterday, turned into a night of hell.
Weeing every 30 minutes and Irritated bladder.
I am totally and utterly exhausted now.
A lovely member on here has directed me to some capsules for bladder health, which I have bought. I’m waiting for the pharmacist to call re possible anti biotics and I’ve got an appointment with menopause clinic on Thursday. That’s if I even make it there!
I’m using 2 vagifem per day along with YES moisture gel.
Help someone please :-\

I just sent a message but I think go to A & E. They can give you antibiotics and test your urine and give you something to sleep. You can’t carry on like this. I feel so bad for you, I’m really sorry this is just awful.
-
Thanks ATB
Am sat on my bed, contemplating going, but cannot gather energy.
I just can’t work out why all this local Oestrogen I’m using, isn’t working.
-
This is of no help but I just wanted to send you my best wishes. I really feel for you. It is just awful to be in so much pain.
-
Don't take ABs unless the wee sample is tested in a Lab.. Over-use World Wide is causing huge problems in that bugs are becoming resistant.
Have you tried pain relief to ease the nip as the spincter shuts off the urine flow? For me it was a sharp nip followed by goose bumps all over ::).
There is another product quite new to the market, can't remember the name; sorry.
As I stated in your previous posts, U R probably not using enough vagifem! Get a dose up there ASAP and another this evening, repeat in the morning. U don't have to ask anyone's permission. Some ladies require vagifem/ovestin every night. Occasionally when symptoms niggle, I put an extra 'ovestin' up there plus pain relief. A&E should not be prescribing ABs unless the patient is seen by a Consultant.
-
CLKD, no disrespect, but I AM is using vagifem am and pm AND ovestin.
Currently waiting for a new tube to be approved by GP today.
Thankyou.

The issue with A & E and antibiotics is about a third were being given when it wasn’t a UTI. My friend had a similar chronic condition and got AB injection and it was needed. UTI’s should not be allowed to persist as it can get serious. I would absolutely go to A & E, they can give you pain relief at least.
-
Sorry read the info. incorrectly :-\.
Did U make a decision?
-
Estrogen is only going to help if it's caused by low estrogen. Which, from the amount of Vagifem and Ovestin you're putting up there, I doubt is the case now(!). It sounds to me like you have a UTI or something else going on, so need to go get diagnosed... somewhere!
-
Very true joziel
Didn’t make it to a+e, so back on phone to GP.
Currently 10th in the queue!
Something is brewing for sure.
Plus I feel very ‘meh “ but don’t know if because I’m so tired, low Oestrogen, or a side effect of the coil! :-\
-
Did you get through to GP Nas? xxx
-
Yes March,
No appointments left :-\
Got to ring at 8am tomorrow :-\
X
-
Nas, do you feel able to wait til then? Wondering whether A&E might sort you sooner. I don't know what the wait times are like in your area to be seen though, might be worth checking first. X
-
In too tired to go Gnatty.
If tonight is bad again, I will go straight there in the morning.
For now, feel cold, shivery and yuk 😪
-
Oh gosh, I don’t like the sound of that. I was told those symptoms, shivering and chills, is more serious stage of UTI. Maybe call 111? It can be the early signs of kidney infection.
-
Call 111 Nas, tonight. They’ll get you in somewhere tomorrow morning.
Don’t underplay your symptoms to them, I say that because it’s what we’re all prone to do.
RING x
-
I agree with ATB and March. 111. A&E or your closest walk in clinic.
I feel for you.
-
Yes. Will go tomorrow first thing.
I havent the energy today.
-
Is it something a sexual health clinic could help with, I wonder...
-
I’ve just read your posts Nas, I agree, it sounds like a UTI . More than likely caused by the coil insertion.
Take a urine sample to your gp surgery first thing and get them to test it. You can just drop it into reception, and they will get a dr to ring you with the results ( this is what they do in my surgery… hopefully yours is the same)
Drink plenty of water to flush through and try and rest.
Xx

Nas, I hope you can get to see someone soon who can diagnose this properly ...just to say that when I had Mirena coil fitted some years ago I got a very bad uti almost immediately, about 3 days after the fitting. It really sounds like this might be the case for you too. It is quite a common occurrence with this procedure apparently.
I hope you can make it to A&E or your Dr asap. Take care.
-
Thanks Jane
Could could be right re the Mirena.
The only thing is, I experienced this quite a bit in April. It was when I was on very low dose oral HRT, that the bladder kicked off big time. No coil was in place then.
Going to try to get to a+e today.
-
Morning Nas, I’ve been worried about you! I know you’re tired, but take a cab if you need to and get to a & e ASAP. Ring 111 if you like first but I’m sure they’re going to tell you to go. Please let us know how you get on.
-
Is there an update? I'm also worried about her.
-
Hope you’re ok Nas xx
-
Big hugs to you Nas xxxx
-
Sending big hugs to you Nas. xxxx
-
I am thinking of you too Nas. Sending a hug.
-
Thankyou all.
I went to a+e, no infection, bloods normal.
Doctor suggested weakened bladder tissue causing issue. So, somehow I must get to my meno appt on Thursday to be examined.
Got home, huge headache and then started vomiting all afternoon. So currently trying to manage that and the weeing! :'(
I dont know if this all a bug, or an adverse reaction to the mirena. All I know is, the headache is like no other and I feel grim.
Thanks again and hope you have all had a better day than me :) x
-
Oh I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been able to get any relief or a diagnosis. I feel for you so much, this is horrible and now vomiting! I really hope it’s nothing to do with the mirena. You must be exhausted. I am glad it wasn’t a kidney infection and that was ruled out. Thanks for letting us know.
-
You poor thing Nas, how awful.
You’ve been so brave and at least an infection has been ruled out.
Rest tomorrow if you can, so you can make it to your appointment come what may.
You’ll find the strength to do so with us lot behind you all the way! xxx
-
Good lord, this is just horrific. I have literally nothing useful to say (but that doesn't usually stop me from talking). I'm so sorry you're going through this and very much wishing you begin to see a light at the end of the tunnel soon.
-
What a nightmare. I am so sorry you are feeling this bad. I hope you can rest as much as possible. It could be a horrid bug making you feel this way. I really hope you feel better soon.
-
I've heard of the Mirena causing infections before, but usually uterine infections when some bacteria get introduced to the uterus during fitting. I don't know if that would cause these symptoms, but the body is weird...
-
Yes joziel, it’s possible.
Tomorrow I’m going to my appointment to check it’s still in place and to discuss these god awful symptoms. It might need removing, I don’t know.
Still feeling queasy and headachy 😟
-
My other thought ( one of many!) was that if I’m not absorbing the oestrogen properly, the build up of progesterone may be causing these symptoms?
Partner said I was getting more grumpy way before the coil too. Irritable and snappy. And I think bladder was beginning to kick off before mirena fitting.
Again I don’t know for sure what’s causing what right now.

That could be a possibility. It would explain your lower mood.
