Title: Estradot shortage
Post by: Stella2 on May 12, 2022, 02:55:16 PM
I have just been given a prescription for Estradot 75 to try instead of Sandrena but in my pharmacy they told me that they couldn't get any recently, the other pharmacies have none in stock. Called Lloyds online and waited for an hour on the phone, no response. Would anyone know what to do?

Have you tried the Boots prescription checker ?

I had a quick check of our local NHS formulary as they now do an HRT stock update. Estradot 75 is indeed showing as out of stock. Estradot 100 is available though so hopefully will be in your area. If you continue to struggle, I would ask your GP to prescribe you the 100 and then you can just cut 1/4 off it. The British Menopause Society guide to shortages and alternative treatments recommends this as a workaround during the current shortages . GPs and pharmacists don’t like doing this though as it means that they are prescribing and dispensing ‘off-label’ so extra paperwork I think!

Thank you Floradora, I have also checked the Boots checker, nothing available. I have read in the papers today that it has been decided for the UK to order HRT medication from France and Poland next week so there is hope, however, not sure if the Estradot 75 will be available.
