Hi All,
I've been struggling with Lenzetto to get the dose right for nearly a year now so my GP has changed me onto Evorel 50. Have been feeling really rough on Lenzetto (and a half sprays daily) and just could not go on like that anymore. 2 sprays seems to be too much. I am 69 been on HRT since my hysterectomy aged 42. I start the Evorel tonight after a day of feeling really vile today - palpitations and tachycardia, panic attacks, huge anxiety, waking in the night several times with a jolt in a sweat with real panic feelings for the last few weeks.. ALways feel the worse in the morning and afternoon (put Lenzetto on at 9pm every evening) and by 6 - 7pm start to feel slightly better. My oestrogen blood level was 140 last week down from last year when it was 240. I was on Oestrogel for many years but my blood level went down to 98 despite being on 3 pumps daily so was changed off it. I am just praying I feel better on the patches. Has anyone else had symptoms like these? I am assuming my dose was too low. Any advice or personal experiences with Evorel greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. xx

Good luck Pippa. Lots of women get on very well with Evorel patches so hopefully it will give you the relief of your symptoms and a more consistent flow of estrogen x
-
Floradora - thanks so much for your lovely message. First Evorel patch went on last night. Had a pretty dreadful night but feeling a little better today fingers crossed xx
-
Hi I do hope you start to feel better soon unfortunately I haven’t had a good experience with either Everol Conti or Everol 50. The main issue being worsening Migraines.
-
Good luck pippa!!
I’ve also decided to try evorel 50. Was going to go with lenzetto but it doesn’t look so readily available as the patches where i am.
First patch went on last night.
I was on 75 but wondered if it was too much, so have dropped to 50 for now.
Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Nas and Pippa. Interestingly, I’m also trialling an Evorel 50 patch (I’ve done another long post about osteoporosis explaining why). Put it on this morning so we’ll see how I get on. I cut a bit off to start with and will build it up!

Welcome to the ‘ evorel club’ flora.
I thought you were on Femeston? X
-
Whoops sorry flora, just read your other post.
Really hope you /we get on on with evorel.
I liked femeston also but it just wasn’t enough for me and my bladder was horrendous towards the end of the 3 months.
🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Yes fingers crossed we all get on well with it! X

Thanks everyone. Fingers crossed we all get on well with Evorel patches. I am on day 3 and although I had an awful migraine/headache yesterday to be fair I was getting them anyway and it may well be due to changing oestrogen levels as I have not managed to get level hardly at all when I was on Lenzetto so am expecting it to take a while to even out (up to 3 months I was told) I have however slept for the first time in months and the anxiety has gone down several notches so far. Hope so much it will work for us all. xxx
-
That’s great to hear that you slept well Pippa.. 👍👍
Flora, how are you getting on with it?
I’m not sure yet, may not be enough Oestrogen still.. feeling slightly irritable and grouchy...I do however have a trapped nerve in my arm which is causing bother! :-\
Xx

Hi Nas and Pippa. I’m doing ok with the Evorel and Provera combo so far. Had a huge headache on the first night but that seems to have passed. The pollen count is massive at the moment so it might have been caused by that anyway! It’s so difficult to tell insnt it when there might be something else going on that’s causing a symptom anyway. Nas- a trapped nerve is horrendous so no wonder you feel grouchy- I dont think estrogen can help with that one sadly! A good dose of anti inflammatory painkillers might give you some relief. Hope everyone sleeps well tonight x
-
Glad you aware tolerating the new regime Flora, fingers crossed it works well for you going forward.
Yes the trapped nerve is horrendous. It’s swiftly taken my mind off the menopause, I am tell you! I’m so drugged up, I rattle!
Keep going ‘evorel warriors’ :)x

Nas and Floradora
Nas so so sorry to hear about the trapped nerve that must be so painful - do hope it starts to improve very soon - not what you need to have to cope with as well as the new patch. :( Can your GP give you anything to help with the trapped nerve? Physio therapy or something maybe?
Floradora - so pleased to hear you are doing well on your new regime. If it's any consolation I also had a really vile headache the first day after starting the patch. I did the first patch change last night and did feel a bit 'wired' last night and most of today. Seems to be over the past few weeks I wake up feeling incredibly anxious for no reason at all then through the morning feel pretty grotty with head pressure and dizziness which wears off late afternoon. Had this before starting the patches and have to say the anxiety has gone down some notches but wish I could feel all ok - hormones ay Grrrrr.
-
Anxious feelings are just the pits aren’t they. Hopefully once you get settled on the Evorel things will improve and you will feel more relaxed. Like you I get dizziness with hormonal fluctuations and it’s horrible. I think the reason that things are worse in the morning is possibly low blood sugar first thing too. I always have a small late night snack now to help with this and try and have an apple juice soon after waking. Sleep well x
-
Floradora - thanks so much for your post. Yes the anxiety is really horrible and hard to deal with at times. I am on day 5 of Evorel now and have noticed an improvement today. Really interesting what you say about blood sugar and anxiety in the mornings. Makes total sense as I only eat a very small supper at around 6pm then nothing till the next day due to reflux problems so have to go to bed with an empty stomach but might try a light snack in the evening and apple juice sounds a great plan first things. Thanks so much for the suggestion. How are you doing? xxxx
-
That’s a long time to go without anything to eat Pippa. Def I would try just having even a small snack before bed and even just a plain biscuit first thing before you get up and about. I would be shaking and heart palpitations if I went without anything for that long. It might really help you feel better in the mornings. I’m doing ok thank you. Getting settled on 3/4 of the Evorel patch at the moment. Will slowly lessen the amount I cut off over the next couple of weeks to hopefully get up to the full 50 x

Hi Floradora, yes you are right it is a long time and thanks so much for mentioning it. Will definitely try a small snack later this evening plus some apple juice in the morning. Having done some calculations I think actually the patch is a lower dose of estradiol than I was on for many years. (I was on just under 3 pumps of Oestrogel for over 25 years) and may explain more why I never seemed to be able to get the Lenzetto dosage right (almost impossible even with taping off the applicator) That may explain the grotty anxiety and headaches and hot flashes etc. I am still having. I notice you are also cutting up your patches to slowly increase to get to the right dose so I may do that in the future too - just want to give it at least a month to see if things level out. 1 week today since starting the patches. Still much preferring the patch administration method just now the trickiest bit of the lot i.e. getting the right dose - minefield is an understatement. Hope so much your slow dose increasing is working well for you and that you are starting to feel better xx

Hello Pippa52
Your post really resonated with me because I have all the symptoms that you have described. I am 65 and moved to Sandrena after trying Oestrogel. To put the tin lid on it I also had a flush earlier today! Your experiences have convinced me to increase my gel until I can see my doctor next month to discuss other options.
I have always needed to eat a small supper just before bed and I have found that a very small amount of cereal mixed with a plant milk helps to satisfy me and doesn't cause any digestive problems.
Take care and keep us updated.
K.

Hi Pippa yes 3 pumps of estrogel would be a higher dose, more than the 50 patch. Although I think it’s so variable really, it depends on how much you actually manage to absorb I think rather than the actual dose sometimes. Hopefully you will find that you absorb well from the patch and that it keeps the levels steady. I’m quite pleased with the patch so far. Even after just a week I’m finding that it must be giving me a stable dose as I’m not aware of any fluctuations. I’m due to change it tomorrow so I think will just cut a tiny bit less off and see how I get on. Enjoy your snacks and sleep well! X

Kathleen....it's such a total minefield getting the dose right it really is. I had this problem big time with Lenzetto which is why I am glad my GP swopped me onto patches (Lenzetto was unavailable) as I think they will be better for me personally. As Floradora rightly says in her post people respond differently to different products and it seems to be all about which one each person absorbs the best. I get to the point sometimes when I despair of ever getting the right dose but I feel sure it will even out eventually. My daughter in law (she is a vet so quite medical) who is also on the patches told me too that it takes several months to even out on a new product and dose so I will persevere. I do hope increasing your dose works for you - keep in touch and fingers crossed you feel better very soon. xx

Floradora - so so pleased that you are doing well on the patches that is great news. I am totally sure you are right in that it is the amount we absorb best from the product that suits us best is what makes the difference and probably not so much the actual dosage.. I wasn't absorbing Oestrogel hardly at all apparently (blood test levels were 98 and I felt really awful) on 3 pumps and for me personally I think a consistent level like the patches provide will be a better option. Horses for courses as the saying goes. Snacking started btw :) Hope so much you continue to do well on the patches. We will all get there!! :) xx
