Title: Update on prolapse
Post by: Sarah48 on April 30, 2022, 11:13:19 AM
Hi ladies,

I thought I would update you with my appointment with the Physio, who specialises in pelvic floor/ prolapse etc.
The lady I saw was amazing and talked me through exactly what was going on and came up with a plan for 4 weeks, including Kegal exercises, making sure voiding properly! As she thinks where bladder bulging could mean bladder not emptying properly which then leads to burning feeling.  I can go to the gym but just lift light weights and breathe properly whilst concentrating on pelvic floor.    For the first time I felt someone actually understood my situation and having a plan made me feel so much better.   Well worth the £70 for an hour.

Interestingly she said that many male GP don’t think doing internal examinations, due to concerns of litigation! Then the female GPs get fed up seeing all the patients with “ ladies” problems so end up seeing the nurse , who doesn’t generally then have the expertise with Prolapse and menopause etc.

She also said that the urge to wee a lot is likely down to peri menopause too.  She suggested I ask for a referral to a menopause clinic to make sure my HRT is monitored properly.

I started taking Evorel 25 and Utrogestan around 2 months ago. The anxiety has gone but they also upped my AD.  I do have more energy, no aches/pains although night sweats continue!    It’s definitely a waiting game which is hard when you have horrid symptoms.

I have waffled on a bit!! But if anyone is having prolapse issues, definitely worth seeing a physio.
😊😊

Great you are getting advice . Pessaries are good to look at too ,to help until you firm up your muscles . However some prolapses can’t be helped by excercise .

I remember you said you were going to see a pelvic floor physio. I think I said that the money I spent seeing one was well worth it.  I’m glad it went well and you got some good advice.   Sounds like you found a good one.

Thankyou Ladies 😊

I am hoping that if the gym doesn’t make matters worse, I can shift the 2 stone I have put on over the last 2 years.

Losing weight will definately help but don't do any lifting.
