Title: Patches with Gel?

Does anyone here use Evorel Conti patches with Oestrogel as a top-up?  I’m just checking to see if it’s a possibility before I ask my Gp.

Conti patches have stopped working for me and I’m unable to use anything else.

Hi I believe it’s not advisable as there may not be enough progesterone in the patch to cover the use of extra gel.

If you want to up the dosage it would be wise to use an oestrogen only patch or Oestrogel with Utrogestan as the progesterone . x

I know that Davina McCall uses a patch and tops up with gel. Her regime has been mentioned on this forum recently but I saw her video where she demonstrates her morning routine (she also  takes Levothyroxine for an underactive Thyroid by the way).

When I saw her video I wondered if the progesterone in the patch was sufficient but her meno specialist is Louise Newson who presumably told her that it was okay. I expect Davina has regular scans as well.

So in answer to your question, yes some people top up their patch with gel but maybe only some meno specialists sanction it.

Hi I think Davina uses an oestrogen only patch and takes Utrogestan alongside it.

You can top up an oestrogen only patch with gel, but not a combined patch. x

Dotty - You may be  right there, I  just assumed her patch was a combined one. I don't recall her taking an Utrogestan tablet but I do remember the Thyroid one. Anyone interested can watch her YouTube video and pay more attention than I did lol!

Be careful of bleeding if you decide to mix and match.

Maybe try a higher dose oestrogen patch and utrogestan/coil/ different progesterone?

I’ve tried a higher dose patch but it made me feel awful and I’m unable to take Urtrogestan tablets due to acid reflux ( I also tried the vaginal route!). i thought I could top-up with a little more Oestrogen to control my symptoms but it seems a little more complicate than I first thought.

Dotty…..How can you top-up an Oestrogen only patch with gel as I though they both contained Oestrogen?  Sorry my brain-fog is playing up this morning!

Hi you might be on a 50 patch and top up with a pump of gel to make the equivalent of a 75 patch x
