I had a routine internal ultrasound scan done last Sunday morning and now have vaginal itching and burning, possibly cystitis or uti.
Has anyone else experienced this after scan?
I don’t normally have to taken Vagifem and manage ok so I think this may have sparked it.
Can you take Vagifem whilst you have these symptoms or will the applicator just annoy things more?
Have just started d-mannose and probiotics.
Any thoughts appreciated xx

Just a thought but might the gel they use have irritated the delicate tissues? You could just insert the vagifem without the applicator if you are worried it might irritate further. I hate the stupid applicator!

You can certainly take Vagifem while you have these symptoms. I guess most people have similar symptoms when they start using it. If you find the applicator too uncomfortable you can insert with a finger. You could also coat the applicator (or finger) with a vaginal moisturiser to ease things along. It does sound as though the scan has stirred things up a bit.

Thank you both for your useful tips.
I forgot to say and I think it might be related, that I had a white, no odour discharge which started before the scan, so could in fact be thrush??

Regarding the discharge, a thin discharge can also be a symptom of VA. Were you OK apart from that?
Gnatty makes a good point about the lubricant, too.

Yes lubricant comes up online, so good point.
The discharge is thickish. Yes I was ok before this, then vaginal discharge, then scan, then itching and burning.
Trying to figure out which one to treat???
