Title: Low Folate help/advice re symptoms
Post by: sweettooth on April 09, 2022, 03:26:38 PM
Please has anyone any good experience on raising their folate.  I have bought a good supplement 400ug.  My level was 3.87 ug/L and it gave a ref range 3.89 - 19.45.  I do eat well but must be absorbtion issue.  My b12 is upper limit of 150pmol/L.

My Q is could this be causing my very tired legs first thing and am I taking a good enough dose of folate?

Tk u💐💐

Sorry no one's answered  :-\ it's a bit technical for me   ::)

MayB ask your local pharmacist, they have private rooms these days.  Let us know?

Folate levels can fluctuate quite a lot depending on what you’ve been eating in the last few days. Leafy greens are the major source and if you can it’s better to get it from diet rather than supplement.
If that doesn’t do the trick than try folate but don’t over do it as the supplements will increase them relatively quickly. Don’t use folic acid if you can help it.

Thanks ladies, I’m wondering if it’s an absorbtion issue as my diet is pretty good on the recommended foods.  My B12 is top of range🤷‍♀️

I have started a good multi vitamin with folate but no B12.  Will also start smoothies with spinach etc👍
