Title: All sorted sort of.....
Post by: Janeydrew on March 04, 2022, 04:46:50 PM
OK so had a rough 6 months or so with bleeding. I've still got all my parts ;D have been on hot for a few years now so not sure if my periods had stopped. So in July had a operation to thin my womb. They wanted me to try the patch evoral and I continued bleeding for days. Came off that the Dr gave me another patch still bled so I just stopped all hrt after a week or so I stopped bleeding woop woop. So my dilemma now is I need estrogen as my bladder is very weak. I keep leaking. This was one of the reason I went on hrt.   So I was taking 2/ 3 pumps of estrogel in the morning. I'm fine with that. My Dr wants me to take progesterone pill 100mg every night . I hate how it makes me feel even if I take it vaginally.  How else can I take it. can't I take it for a week or so in a month so I have a bleed. Hope someone can make sense of my post x

If U need treatment for Vaginal Atrophy - this is a totally different condition.  As oestrogen levels drop, the body may become dry: inside and out; skin, scalp, deep in the ears, nostrils, eyes, between the toes, anus and vagina.

The idea to treat VA is locally - either 'ovestin' or 'vagifem'.  If U have a womb you need a form of progesterone.

Your GP could refer you to an NHS Menopause Clinic.  In the meantime, ask for VA treatment which can take a while B4 the vagina is plumped up and less itchy.  U don't need an examination your GP/Nurse Practitioner should prescribe.  Don't be fobbed off: treatment can be used every night if necessary!

Thank you for the reply. I do use vagifem just twice a week just to keep everything nice down there. But my Dr was moaning about me using the progesterone vaginally. Hence why she refused to give me any more hrt. Now I have convinced her it's fine. I'm not sure how to take the gel and tablets. The consultant and Dr wants to take 100mg every night. But I hate it every night so I've took it upon myself to take 2half pumps of gel every morning and 2 tablets from day 15 for 12 days so hopefully I have that right  :) :)

You may need to reload the 'vagifem' occasionally.  Some ladies use it nightly.

Hi Janeydrew. Have you been referred for your bladder problem rather than just being put onto HRT?

You will usually get a bleed a few days after stopping the progesterone.

Taz x

Hi taz yes I was referred everything was fine with examination was told yo do exercise. The thing is when I'm not on hrt I do leak and need the loo as a matter of urgency bit once I'm back on hrt it's all under control so I believe it's all due to estrogen x

Oestrogen will help definitely. I've just had my pelvic floor exercise regime changed by the specialist nurse again. Latest examination shows my strength has improved by two points in the last six months so I'm pleased with that. Something I'm doing right for once  ;D

I asked for a box of sweets when I got 9/10 from my Dentist a few weeks ago.  He laughed.  Am still waiting for the sweeties  ;D

It's about finding a regime that eases symptoms and sticking to it.

Yes will let you know. So today woke up to some brown spotting I really hope it's not gonna turn into a full blown bleed again. Next Friday is when I start take the progesterone when I stop taking that hopefully then I will have a full period not sure why I'm spotting now as only having 2 pumps of estrogel x

It's probably not enough Estrogel.

Perhaps you could try one extra pump to see how you feel the next few days?  It can be a bit trial and error.  3 might be too much too soon.  What do others think?
