Seriously confused right now.
As far am aware, I am post menopausal; over three years since last natural period and blood tests have confirmed this.
2019/2020- Used 3 gel pumps and 100 utrogestan daily- no bleeding.
2020/2021- 75 patch and 100 utrogestan- bleeding starts within 4 months and continues every 2/3 weeks like a period.
Last bleed was 29th January 2022.
Scans and hysteroscopies reveal nothing. Lining is thin.
Last hysteroscopy was 2 weeks ago. Clear.
Decide to ditch patch and start femeston Conti 1mg. Within 3 weeks, headaches and cramps.
Have periods returned ?
Why am I bleeding on HRT?
No cysts, fibroids, polyps etc
Between a rock and a hard place.
Can’t live with or without HRT.

Firstly, the scans are clear. That's one worry out of the way?
What does it say in the leaflet in the box?
Could you talk to a menospecialist or your local Pharmacist for advice, if there isn't anyone in the Surgery with knowledge?
Hopefully someone will be along.

Hi Nas,
Glad your results are clear.
I can’t remember why you stopped the gel and utro but it looks to have given you two years of no cramps/bleeds/symptoms. I’d be tempted to give the gel/utro a 3 month trial or complete the 3 months on current regime to see if you stabilise.

Thanks Victoria.
Feeling pretty grim today. Awful stomach cramps and nausea. Patches suited me better but for the bleeding.
I have 50 patches and utrogestan. Maybe I won’t bleed on the lower dose?

Oh I hear you Nas!!! I’m the same and sitting here with yet another period.
-
Oh no Pink, thats rubbish!
What regime are you on currently?
I was told yesterday, that once post meno, bleeds aren't "periods" as such, but more the hormones, influencing the womb lining, hence the bleeds.
MS said a mirena was the way to go. Except i dont want one! :-\

I completely understand not wanting a mirena but it might be the least worst option. Most people are OK with it.
-
You could be right Sheila.
Will give the femeston a good 3/6 months.
If the bleeding persists. I will give the coil a go.
It’s the whole “ foreign’ object concept which I struggle with.
At the moment, it’s just a bit of spotting, so hoping it may settle
-
I’m on the same HRT as you and started a thread recently myself. I also don’t want a coil if that’s the alternative (scan dependent) but one thing I know is that I personally want to come off all HRT so I’m more in control of my body.
-
Pink, I totally get you. I would come off HRT too, but my mood plummets too much.
Are you on the combined patches or femeston Conti tablets? The patches are notorious for causing bleeding I think. I’ve read so many threads and posts on various forums about Conti and bleeding.
It’s a very tough journey and with bleeding, it’s doubly hard.
You have my total sympathy. How many bleeds are experiencing? Do you think things would settle down at bit?
-
Hi Nas,
I’m on Evorel 50 and Utrogestan 100. Is that the same as you?
I’ve been on this regime since March 2020 but have only bled the last two months and a month apart. I just don’t see the point of HRT if I’m going to be like this 🙈
-
Can we swap? I'm on sequi gel/utro and haven't had a bleed for 6 months which is the last time my body contributed. Going for a scan this week to see how thick the lining is ( 4 pumps gel, seems unlikely there won't have been a build up). Then I may be going down the mirena route too.
-
I’m on tablet form Pink, but it’s the equivalent of your 50 patch ( roughly)
I did say to myself that if I didn’t get on with tablets, then I would give the 50 patch and utrogestan a bash and that would be it.
Bleeding is the pits and I think one of the key reasons why some women sadly come off HRT. It may settle still.
Sheila, do you think you are ready for a Conti regime now, since you haven’t had a bleed in six months.
-
That's what my gp suggested but I haven't been a year without a bleed yet. I get fatigue on utro, I can put up with it for 12 days (6 week cycle) but I don't want to be permanently doped. I had intended to stay on sequi in meno because of this.
-
Ah okay, I understand Sheila.
Sounds like the Mirena might be the path you take then, else you run the risk of your lining build up I’m guessing?
It’s never easy. :o
-
I'm another one who really doesn't want a mirena but it might be my least worst option too. I'm clutching at straws here but until the scan I can hope the utro has managed to keep it thin despite not having a bleed. I hope the femesron works for you.
-
I took a lot of persuading, but am now firmly in the Mirena coil=least worst option camp. Good luck, whatever you decide.
-
It was your post that made me think again Peri What :)

Ah, that's nice to hear, Sheila99! And your advice on other threads has been so helpful to me - very much appreciated.
If you decide to try it, I should mention that I asked for local anaesthetic, just in case, but didn't need it in the end. Although it was weird and uncomfortable, it was nowhere near as painful as I'd been expecting - just really one brief moment that hurt and then it was done. I distracted myself by talking nonstop while it was being fitted and had some paracetamol after. Light bleeding afterwards was annoying, but stopped in the end - not everyone seems to get this.

Thanks, good advice to ask for local anaesthetic. Apparently my cervix is further back than normal so I may need it.
