Title: Help please
Post by: Michele on February 19, 2022, 08:34:54 AM
Over the past two years I have been told I’m post menopausal but to regulate my moods I’ve been on the mini pill for 10 years, anti-d’s and hrt tablets. My moods have taken a turn for the worst so I’ve paid to see a hormone consultant who has changed me onto patches and oh wow I feel like I have my life back. I came off the mini pill in October and have had monthly bleeds, really heavy with clots, then they went every two weeks, now only a ten day break. Last Thursday I had internal scans which show my ovaries as very post menopausal so the bleeding shouldn’t be happening, everything on the scan is fine. So why the bleeding? It’s driving me crazy emotionally I’m finding hard to deal with. I’ve spoken to my consultant this week, he suggested either having hrt tablets again instead, staying as I am and hoping it eases or having a merina coil and implant fitted. I don’t want any of these options I’d rather have an hysterectomy and do away with it all, I can’t do this anymore. He said it’s early days so wouldn’t suggest one for at least a year, I can’t do another year like like, really I can’t. I’m 52 my ovaries are completely shrivelled so why should I have to wait and put myself through all this bleeding, stress and emotion.  I’m also due a bowel op which I’ve just had a pre-op for they need me to come off my hrt because of the risk of dvt as I’m having a general for the op, I know if I come off the hrt my moods are going to crash so low, it’ll put me in a horrible dark place where I don’t want to go, my hrt consultant says to stay on the hrt, I really don’t know what to do now as I’m getting conflicting advice. I’m so sorry for the rant, I’m getting myself in such an emotionally state with all of this. X

I'm assuming they are Conti patches? I went onto Femseven Conti patches aged 62 and 8 years post meno. I had very heavy periods with clots for a few months then just spotting every week. It says on the leaflet this can happen and is normal for up to six months, its the progestin keeping the lining thin, it should stop within six months. I stopped using it before then as the only symptoms i had were VA and the patch hadn't made much differece to that so i just continued with local treatment.
