Hi,
Does anyone suffer from SAD?
Mine is horrid already, low mood, anxiety, just want to hibernate and wake up in spring?
I already take AD’s and plenty of Vit D.
What do you do to ease it?

Get more exercise in the fresh air. Sunshine will help. As will meeting people; we can wave rather than stop for a chat or shout across the street. When depressed I found that when I went into the village shop and engaged, that my mood lightened. Even when I didn't want to get out of bed.
Do U have a light box? Or window facing South/West? Do you have plants indoors, i.e. seasonal cyclamen or cactii .......

I do find the lightbox I have really helpful. Would recommend.

I’ve bought a special lamp for DH for Christmas, designed for SAD sufferers. Do you think it will cure him from telling me how many daylight hours there are, especially in winter? ;)

Hi Spangles,
Pre Covid I was abroad a lot, could work from a sun lounger and wasn’t aware of SAD. Nowadays I notice it. Thankfully we’re nearing the end of winter and if the sun comes by February we’ve not far to go. I get out in the sun even if it’s freezing, dog walk or bit of gardening, brushing up piles of leaves.
Not long to go now hopefully.

Having such a bad day today with the SAD, it’s just awful this year.
I’m just so full of negativity and can’t find the positive, low mood, high anxiety etc. I really need sunshine and spring.

Did U buy a lamp? Do you have access to any green space which is sheltered?
January can seem such a long month if it's dull. We've had little sunshine ☀️ yet. R U taking anything for the anxiety? I remember feel really ill from mid-November until March as a child: a lot was due to the lead up to C.mas etc.. So much going on in school as well as all that food, it is much better now that we can please ourselves.
One positive - nights are pulling out. I prefer really cold, frosty days when the light is reflected which helps as long as we don't get snow for too many days!

I've found a portable lamp from Scotts of Stowe - £59.95 . If you think one would help, you should be able to find the advert on their website. I had a supplement in the Sat. paper package. It seems a lot but you can use it annually when necessary.

I haven’t got a lamp yet, it’s a lot to pay out if it doesn’t work, especially when you have a very low budget.

I think if you get a diagnosis some hospitals lend them out.

My daughter suffers with SAD & I got a light therapy lamp from Amazon for less than £20. It’s quite a large circle shaped one, I have to say the light from it is really lovely very relaxing. She is finding it really helpful after only a couple of weeks :)
