So I downloaded the app from the NHS website and did my first session today. It was 30 minutes of walking interspersed with 8 separate 60 second gentle runs.
I wondered if anyone else was interested in doing the same for mutual support? You can choose different voices on the app to encourage you, I chose Sarah Millican.

I've seen people doing this in real life whilst training for Marathons :o . ........ let us know how you get on (sitting on the sofa here with feet up ;))

Good luck Gnatty, I've done it a couple of times in the past, it's amazing how it works if you stick with it. One thing the app doesn't tell you much about is how to warm up and cool down so you don't end up injured, as I found out the hard way!

Stretches, especially calf stretches, are helpful.

Yes I need to be careful, as had hysterectomy in the summer. It's my glutes that seem to be have suffered and around my tailbone!

I think you'll start to see a difference in about a month or so. Don't worry about how slow you go. I've done it twice and never got to the point of actually doing 5k in the time the app thought I would have done 5k, but any exercise I can manage is a bonus, I think!
Thinking back, Couch to 5k was really good for my mental health too.

I agree, it's as much for my mental health, anxiety levels as anything else. Especially with all the news at the moment!

I read that as couch to 25k and thought you were taking on a huge challenge ;D
Good luck with it, I'm another cheering you on from the sidelines.

I'm behind you sheila ...... Oh Yes I Am :D
I read it as couch to 25K, I think it began as couch to 5K years ago? Brisk walking is a good beginning.

Sorry for the confusion! It's couch 2 aka 'to' hahah!!!
