Hi I’m a newbie. I’m just starting HRT as my GP says at 46 I’m young to be going through the menopause. I feel a little bit anxious about taking tablets and patches.

Your GP has been living under a stone!
:welcomemm: no lady is too young. Some girls never have a period; a few will have periods which then disappear; 51 is the mean age but peri-menopause can begin 10 years before.
Which symptom would you like to ease first with the HRT. HRT will protect heart and bone strength . MayB tell us what your GP has prescribed. Browse round. Make notes.

Hi Em. Your doctor means that you are going through the menopause but that you are too young to be going without the benefits of oestrogen so prescribing HRT is a good decision. You seem to have a good doctor there.
As CLKD says oestrogen has a protective effect on heart and bones so until the average age of meno, which is 51, you are merely replacing what you should have been producing naturally. Which type have you been given?
