Hi,
Can depression be csused by the postmenopause?
Thanks

Any thing can cause depression. Hormonal upheaval can certainly make both depression and anxiety more noticeable.

Yes depression can be caused by post menopause, as oestrogen levels drop. X

Clinical depression is when people are in a situation that they feel they are unable to get out of. Organic depression is chemical upheaval - I have both and know the difference. Medication has helped me a lot.
Hormones can cause the onset of depression. How were you during your menstruating years, I would sob the night B4 a bleed began, even when a period wasn't due.

Thanks everybody for your replies.
I've always had a low mood issue during my reprocuctive years and I seem to still have it. Mental health issues aren't easy to deal with and, although I am not depressed, i'm scared that the further down I go in the postmenopause, I'm currently 2 years postmeno, the higher the risk of me developping this horrible illness. I'm really hoping that this won't be the case, say, 5 or 10 years down the I line..

There isn't any higher risk, certainly I haven't become any worse - in fact, I feel better now that I don't have periods or PMT. My trick is eating regularly: every 3 hours.
