Title: Is it ok to change Oestregen patch every 3 days?
Post by: Teresa on November 30, 2021, 03:39:54 PM
Hi,
I hope someone can help. As many of you know, the oestrogen patches  (I have just gone up to Evorel 75 from 50) have to be changed twice a week, which means a 4 day and a 3 day gap.

I am post menopausal and on continuous HRst with utrogestan as progesterone seperately. My oestregen blood test levels were very low on the Evorel 50 and I’ve already experienced major benefit with my severe anxiety since on the 75 and my sleep has improved. I’ve only been on these a week. It is a relief. However, I’ve felt a real dip today and it’s the 4 day break that I’m on, rather than the 3 days. I know I’m not imagining it.
I know it is going to be very difficult to ask my Dr. if I can change my NHS prescription to every 3 days as i will get through a few more patches ( worked out I’d use up a box in 24 days instead of 28) so I ordered a box on line from another pharmacy to save the anguish of trying to explain it all to my Gp….does anyone else change theirs every 3 days? I was planning to write the first letter of the week on the patch so I don’t forget when to change it  :)

Does it make us over dose? I suspect not as we can change after 3 days. Feel bad doing it without telling GP, but I know it will just cause me more worry trying to explain my reasons…

Thankyou,

Teresa

There are some people who find they have to change every 3 days so I don't think it's a big deal. It's supposed to supply a constant dose so unlikely to overdose.

Thankyou Sheila 😊
That is reassuring,
