Hi everyone, great to be able to join.
I recently got moved from femoston to estradiol gel and urgeston tablets and on the very last day of the cycle, my BP was up to 193 over something and I was admitted to hosp with a suspected stroke. Lucky for me, I hadn't had a stroke. Now my Dr wants to take me off hrt, no suggestions of anything else. I'm on a BP monitor for 24 hrs and my BP is 103/55 currently and has been this low all eve. I don't want to come off hrt, can't go bk to how I was before it :( Anyone else have this issue?

Morning. What altered you to the high BP?
Do U have a follow up with the Hospital or have you been referred back to your GP? My DH has a monitor, when using it, he takes his first readings B4 breakfast at the same time each day. This is because he has white coat syndrome.
There must have been a reason why your BP shot up, were you given any indication? I would ask for a referral to a menopause clinic - not a Gynaecologist - and keep a mood/food/symptom diary in the meantime.
Which symptom/s were you taking HRT for initially?

Update is after being on a BP monitor for 24 hrs my BP is perfect and I am OK to be on hrt. The only reason they can give is stress. I had a particularly pressured week previous to the sudden rise, usually does not affect me but on this occasion can only be the reason why. So I am going bk onto the hrt but will continue to monitor. ;D

This is excellent news. Thank you for updating us. I thought I had responded to your post but I think my meno brain must have been in action that day ;D

Thank you Clkd and Taz2 for your replies. My joy at going bk on the hrt is short lived. I did not actually stop it because in dispute with the gp and now I'm taking the urtrogestan part for the last two weeks of the month. The last 3 nights I have not been able to sleep, I feel completely wired (if that is the right way to describe it) and again my BP has risen but not yet to the level that it was when I was hospitalised. It appears that I'm not tolerating the urtrogestan 😞 gonna have to go bk to the gp

Hi Vixenlady01. Sorry to know you've had what must have been a horrible experience with the stroke scare. Though we seem to be in the minority as many women report finding Utrogestan sedating, there are a few of us on here who get the opposite effect from it. As with you, it leaves me hyper & sleepless. Also causes palpitations & makes me way too hot, whatever dose of oestrogen I take it with. Don't recall having my BP taken while on Utro so can't compare on that score, but I did have an ECG last time I took it feeling very unwell, confirming my sense the ectopics that had plagued me for many years pre-HRT had been triggered by it again. I so wanted it to be the one, being deemed the gold standard, but it simply doesn't suit some of us.
I hope you make progress when you speak to your GP, hopefully agreeing a trial of another regimen with a different progestogen, or return to Femoston if that feels right for you - not sure as you don't mention why it was stopped. Let us know how you get on.
